Default Are any protein powders good anymore??

So I broke down and got some BPI Peanut Butter Ice Cream Bar protein powder today and man does it taste like every other god damn chocolate flavor generic garbage.

I have avoided protein powders for so long because after years of drinking them all I taste is chemicals....I wish I could find one that didn't taste like every other protein out there and end up wasting $30 on more fart powder....

Shakes are easier to get down when in a rush and on the road but I am way past the point in life where my food has to taste like garbage just to be some bodybuilder hoping that I gain 0.0000001% more muscle eating old ass chicken and rice or shitty shakes.

I am looking for something that mixes easy and actually tastes like the label claims not just a smoking mirror.....If you call it fudge brownie don't make it tasted like chalk dust with cocca powder mixed in

I have BPI Cookies and Cream and BPI PB Ice cream bar and also Optimum Isolate Vanilla Soft Serve and if you were to make a shake of each with same water or almond milk they taste 100 percent the same to me....I will let my gf drink them at this point and stick to Steak, Chicken and Eggs

I feel your pain with the taste of protein powders.

I only do the cheap stuff for budget reasons. That said...

When I want to splurge, there are two brands I really love: Species Isolyze and Beverly International. Since you already mentioned Species, you might want to try Beverly's. They don't have a 100% whey iso, but their Muscle Provider is a whey blend that is very good - the chocolate tastes much better than the vanilla even though the vanilla is great. If you don't mind a casein/whey blend, their Ultimate Muscle Protein is to DIE FOR and my #1 recommendation!!!! UMP vailla tastes like legit cake batter like your grandma used to make! (chocolate UMP is great but not like the vanilla, that stuff is like crack to me!). I add just enough water to make runny pudding consistency, set it in the fridge for 20 minutes, and you have the best vanilla cake batter flavor pudding with ZERO grit and no lumps! It also makes a killer iced vanilla chai latte!

I hate to toot my own horn but there is no whey protein isolate on the market that's a higher yield than ISOLYZE. 32g serving size yields 27.5g protein; zero fat; 1 carb. And we also have the best flavors on the market. If you wanna give it a try, use coupon code AP25 for 25% off your order at speciesnutrition.com

No one sells such a high yield protein because they don't want to spend the money necessary to produce the BEST! They are only interested in making a profit.

I couldn't agree with this more, it really is the BEST WHEY ISO on the planet for taste and quality!

Coupon code = woot! Supermom splurge done! Thanks, Dave!

I'd agree most of them are.

Yet I understand where BILLY GUNS is coming from, sometimes you just want to ENJOY the taste of what you ingest. The stuff I regularly buy to stay in budget tastes like lumpy, vanilla flavored reconstituted cardboard, and I hold my nose and choke it down just fine 99% of the time. Then there are those once in a while treats when I don't want to blow my diet yet eat something that actually TASTES good... Species (preferred for the iso) or Beverly's and I'm in heaven! Back to the reconstituted cardboard the rest of the month.

LOL not true just much smarter in my old age....WHEY is not the best form of PROTEIN by any means its simply convenient and quickly digestible....I could easily drink egg whites and add a splash of chocolate syrup from walden farms to create the same effect here.

I was just looking to see if anyone WITHOUT a shameless plug for what is currently out there...

I may try Dave's with a coupon code its been 10 years since I had tried his original SPECIES products

100% agree I can quickly make an egg white omelette with spinach and love it as opposed to chugging down some scrap dust from a vat of milk.....It would be nice to carry in my work truck but not when I feel like I am drinking some flavored maalox
