    Default Charles Glass?

What's going on at the Mecca?
Just saw that Dexter, Rhoden, and a few bikini chicks recently switched from training with Glass to Chris "pyschofitness21" Lewis.

    Anyone know why?

    People like change.

I don't know Lewis, but a cursory Google notes that a Chris Lewis was trained by Charles Glass in the past. No idea if it's the same one.

Charles is a nice guy and he's great coach for anyone who has trouble feeling muscles well (no pro bodybuilder should have this problem) but training he does with his clients... that's not training, its working out. Hardly anyone improved with that kind of training...

There are two big principles that lead to gaining muscle ... first is progressive overload which works for everyone. Second one is high volume training - by increasing volume over the time your muscles will keep getting bigger (works well for many bodybuilders). Lifting and squeezing weights most of us can lift after 2-3 years of training won't and should not lead to muscle gains for athletes like Shawn Rhoden....

I bet Brad Rowe has nothing but good things to say about Charles. I bet he does not wish he could take training sessions with Charles back... but I am confident he would say that his progress immediately after he stopped working with Charles and got back to progressive overload was incredible.

    One

One thing I see in most bodybuilders is that they absolutely hate the change

Couldn't agree more. I wasn't praising Charles' techniques or training at all, I was just wondering why people were switching away from him. He does some weird shit for sure haha and I know Rowe and other coaches like Matt Jansen, Meadows, are much more into periodization and progressive overload in some form or another.

You obviously have never talked to Charles about his training methods...

I have talked to Charles at shows and expos several times. His programs are completely geared towards the individuals needs and what THEIR goals are. Not what a trainer feels like is the most effective(for example HIT, DC, volume, FT etc) Knowing why he does the videos is way more important than watching videos. His programs can and do include many of those techniques which is why he has outlasted every other trainer out there and trained many of the current trainers.

The Gold's Gym guys, Rhoden, Dex and Hide all switched recently. I'm guessing it has to do with gear protocol/availability/supply.

Guy Cisternino still uses the Glass/Aceto combo-pack for competition, but has his own sources for gear wherever he lives and trains.

I'm sure Charles Glass knows what progressive overload means.

Regarding Shawn Rhoden, yes he needs to push the envelope more, but that's on him and has always been about his own willingness to push weight, not Charles Glass or anyone else.

Regarding Hitetada, his partner is Iris Kyle. He shouldn't even need a trainer.

Regarding Dexter, he's credited Glass/Farah with the second wind in his career.

I've worked with Charles....I truly believe he's the king at what he does. Nobody better. He has a reason for absolutely EVERYTHING he does. He knows how to hit every single muscle in the body. Yet he still believes in the basics.

I don't really watch bodybuilding videos anymore but Charles glass videos were always good...unique tips from movements to make things more interesting, wasn't always the run of the mill boring training videos

Curious who Lewis is mentoring. He said Charles told him 15 years ago he'd take over Gold's. Who will be saying that about Lewis in 2032?
