Lee Haney Says Cedric Doesn't Have the Eye of the Tiger
In a recent interview on MD Lee Haney said Cedric 'does not have the eye of the tiger'.
Haney believes that given Cedric incredible gifts he would have risen to the top a long time ago if he had the eye of the tiger.
Is that fair criticism from the Haney?

I think it's rather fair.

I agree. Cedric did his first pro show in 2010 and is now 39-years-old. I don't think (and by the sounds of it) that he completely followed what Chris Aceto has wanted. It always sounded like a negotiation on what look to bring in, how much food to eat, cardio to do. Cedric always has his own ideas. He's an emotional eccentric. And then this time around it sounded like Aceto convinced him to listen completely.
Jay Cutler, on the other hand, definitely has the eye of the tiger. Machine. Robot. Listens completely. Doesn't deviate. And he's standing next to Ronnie in no time.
Let's be real, with Cedric's body he just needs to listen to his damn coach. For 365 days a year just stop thinking about your physique, stop obsessing over your body, and just do what Aceto says. Send him photos and do what he say. Boom, Mr. Olympia.
In order to have the eye of the tiger you must listen to Chris Aceto, unconditionally.

Maybe... and there is nothing wrong with that.
Cedric is staying true to himself and that's all that matters for him and his family. If he can do it his way with no regrets then I am very happy for him.
I usually say that when pros get bigger they also get worse... I can say this about Kai, Phil, Ronnie, Rhoden, Wolf, Dexter, Wheeler and soooo many others. From pros competing right now Cedric has the best physique out there and he does nothing to ruin that. He keeps getting better without ruining the art. He has one of those physiques I really really like. I can name more guys outside IFBB who were never close to IFBB Pro level I consider BETTER BODYBUILDERS than top guys competing right now... bigger is not always better and Cedric understands that. He does not wanna get bigger everywhere

Very well put. However, I also believe that if Cedric had more drive he wouldn't need a coach of any kind. His genetics are so damn good. I genuinely think if Cedric put in more work he'd be on a different level. I think that Cedric holds himself back not just in that he doesn't listen to good guidance, but Cedric also has a certain mindset (a certain "look" as he puts it) that he thinks he must stick to. He won't be a hypocrite. He won't be "too" shredded, he won't be "too" big. He wants to stay "classic". Therefore he won't ever win. If that guy put on 10 more lbs of stage weight and came in dryer, it would be lights out for pretty much every other competitor save Heath.
I think Cedric's obsession with the "classic" look sets him back as a competitor in this day and age.Last edited by Elf; 04-05-2017 at 07:12 PM.

I suspect Lee may be correct. Cedric won this year because he was the best on that stage but honestly that isn't saying much.
We will see if he continues to bring it but I can't see it.

I agree with Haney's assessment of Cedric but what was even more surprising is that he actually said something worth taking out of that interview after being hung out to dry by the incompetent Ron Harris, who is incapable of conducting an interesting interview.

Baye interviews are WAY WaY more interesting? Wouldn't that be awesome that he starts youtube channel where he will be interviewing guys and girls in the industry. + trying to interview for NPC news online and stuff ? He could do something interesting, the industry is missing a true talent.
David Cua also called Donald Pump known for "making bodybuilding great again" !

Eye of the Tiger? Not so sure about that. Haney took the title from Samir and Dickerson preceded that. At the dawn of the age of the mass monsters, Haney wisely skedaddled. At 6'2" the judging standards haven't been favorable to a guy like Cedric for many years as to dry out leaves a guy that tall looking not-so-full. With the shift away from the bloated guts (for real this time, not just an announcement of such), I think Cedric is starting to get his due. The X-Frame has gained more popularity in classic physique and figure seems to be swinging that way as well so maybe pro bodybuilding is following suit to some degree.
