Dorian Yates Super League 7.29.17
With Mr Yates first Super League event fast approaching I would be interested to hear what people think of Super League.
Here is a link to the Super League website that explains how the competition works.....http://superleague.live
With Nike and Bodybuilding.com as the main sponsors it seems Super League is really going for it.
All events are streamed on Bodybuilding.com
Looks like the bastad child of cross fit and bodybuilding to me. No posing and no judges. Just lifting weights, measuring bodyparts for ideal proportons etc.
Might be a good time to interview Dorian with this event coming up.

I wonder if Dorian makes a lot of money by being an IFBB pro. I don't think from watching Dorian's videos and movie that he gives much of a shit about the bodybuilding establishment.
Of course I am sure Dorian played the IFBB game when he was competing.
Yates has said Arnold started dissing him when he started racking up Olympia wins. Arnold as we know has his faults.
To get on in bodybuilding its important to kiss the right ass but as an outsider like myself I don't feel the need to lap up everything the likes of Manion says.

No one's perfect. And, yes, I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes, but is Nike in it for the long haul? I'll wager no. I don't see this gaining an audience.
Their marketing is at least partly centered on disrespecting bodybuilding. Wtf, BB.com?
Nike is looking for its own Spartan Race or CrossFit phenomenon. This — again, a guess or possibly bad wager — ain't it.Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | Join Rx Muscle on Facebook!

Psychedelics have clearly taken over Dorian's life.

If it falls flat on its face then it becomes a novelty act consigned to history like the WBF.
Strength and endurance sports appeal to tv audiences more than bodybuilding, of course SuperLeague would have to make it to TV. Its downfall could well be the measuring of bodyparts, that will have little to no appeal to joe public.
I am sure Nike and Bodybuilding.com are taking a gamble that the concept of Super League takes off and they, I am guessing, would have a cut of the overall pie and benefit greatly, why else would BB.com do it.
The Super League website is fairly basic, giving the impression not a lot if money was spent on it. July 29 will tell if there was much cash pumped into the venture. I doubt Dorian is spending his own money and if he is he has smoked too much wacky bacy.
Seems to me Its bacically strongman but with better physiques, Pudzianowski types would really like this.
If it does take off it could get more air time on proper TV than the IFBB has in the last 40 year. Lots of ifs, buts and maybes but who knows. I don't think it should be a threat to bodybuilding.
Did Dorian or Arnold ever really have a legitimate 22 inch arm? Wasn't Arnolds measured at 19.75 inches. I suppose we will never know so they can write whatever they like on a poster.

Kind of sounds like what Bob Hoffman did all those years ago. He actually started bodybuilding at his weightlifting competitions as a sideline, & in order not to lose his competitors to the Weiders, which he eventually did anyway.

Thought one of Ellington Darden's books had his arm measured at 20 inches with a slight pump.
I know nearly if not certainly for a fact that Arnold never stretched the tape to 6'2".
Though the Polaroids are lost to time, I was taller than Arnold in each fan picture from 1989 to 1992. I was wearing flat shoes or sneakers in each pic and I don't remember Arnold being in his bare feet during any of those Arnold Classic events. I was clearly an inch or more taller than The Oak (though he was miles wider) and I'm only 6'1".
Arnold is 6' tall at best.
And that was nearly 30 years ago.
The following article was posted on his 68th birthday.
http://mentalfloss.com/article/66782...-actual-height
There he claims 6'1 1/8". No. Unless he was wearing boots.
But I pick up crayons for a living while Arnold is A Living God. Automatic 6'2" status in my book. The Book of Arnold!

That's the Women's Strength Extravaganza.
"After taping Wally Boyko's Superbowl of Strength and the Strength Expo for several years, New Jersey gym owner Bob Bonham and Ken Kassel decided to promote a similar event in New Jersey, and one which remained very popular for about 15 years. This strength portion of the Extravaganza (the physique show is on WPW 86B) featured top name women (Lindy Champion, Sherry Thompson, Sharon Arrildt/Marvel, Raye Holliltt, Karen Pica, Tara Dodane, Phyllis Padur and Liza LaRebeus/Hoen) competing against each other for chinups, dips, bench press, curls, leg press and leg extensions. The weight lifted was a percentage of the woman's bodyweight, so"
