Teen Dies from using too much Caffeine
Teen dies from too much caffeine, coroner says
http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/15/health...eath-caffeine/
The teen consumed three caffeine-laced drinks -- a cafe latte, large Diet Mountain Dew and an energy drink -- in a two-hour period before collapsing in his classroom at Spring Hill High School on April 26, Watts said.
Watts said Davis had purchased the latte at McDonald's around 12:30 p.m. After that he consumed the Diet Mountain Dew and the energy drink.
Davis collapsed at the school in Chapin, near Columbia, just before 2:30 p.m. and according to Watts, was pronounced dead at 3:40 p.m.2013 & 2014 RX Member of the Year

I was listening to a podcast the other day and they were talking about how many monster energy drinks would you need to kill someone....the amount they found was something crazy, like 50....then they found reports of someone dying after 3....my guess is theres an underlying medical condition contributing

Is that actually a thing?
(Googles)
Wow.
"Sudden unexpected death syndrome once caused more deaths among males than car accidents in Southeast Asia. Most of those affected are young males. Although there has been a significant amount of research on this topic, scientists have not been able to determine the exact cause; it is thought to be the body’s failure to accurately coordinate electrical signals that cause the heart to beat and the blood to keep flowing. This syndrome is also very difficult to detect even with extensive tests and an electrocardiograph reading."

I'd question what the f**k he was doing (like being up all night etc) that required him to want to drink three high dose caffeine type drinks in the space of two hours. Plus those are the ones that people knew about. And, as they say it wasn't an overdose... how can they say it was 'too much' (per se - we know he died)?

Sadly, this is very common among people in high school.
Coffee on the way to school, a couple energy drinks throughout the day, and a pre-workout before the left or do any kind of sporting activity. Being a teacher and seeing it on the daily is nothing unordinary. I bet Curt could chime in here too being he is a teacher and sees it among students. Almost every high schooler just loves caffeine and will drink anything and everything with it.. Regular soda (caffeine), coffee (Caffeine), energy drinks (Caffeine), Pre-workouts for any sporting athlete (caffeine). I would not be surprised if a normal high school kid has an average of 1g a day if not more.2013 & 2014 RX Member of the Year
