I respect your viewpoint, but do not agree. Arnold is always giving a performance. He had acting training for films after Pumping Iron & became good at being an icon, such as John Wayne, whom he modeled himself on. On that basis, I see Arnold as one of the all-time great Hollywood leading men.

Just got every Arnold film I didn't have on DVD or Blu-ray. Will work through them this summer & do a feature on them for my website.

It's been a while since we have seen him in anything decent, yes he's been in a few plus the odd cameos but no real block-buster since he retired from being the Governator?! ...com'on Arnie, give another great movie again??

To be fair I stopped watching his movies after End of Days. so I haven't seen all of his movies. I watched Conan dozens of times, had the movie poster on my wall, listened to the soundtrack regularly for years (and still do) and have never really forgiven Arnold for the greatest disappointment for me circa 1985: Conan the Destroyer. I was so let down. I was hyped, thinking he will become King and I will return to see the movie as many times as I could while it played in theatres, and it sucked. Grace Jones sucked, wilt chamberlain sucked, the effects sucked, and thinking about it sucks even 32 odd years later. I hope he does a Conan movie again, even at his age.

Interesting bit of trivia I just read in CLOSER magazine (page 7, October 30 issue).
Recently, Arnold Schwarzenegger, 70, revealed his rivalry with Sylvester Stallone, 71, got so bad in the '80s he duped him into making the critically panned Stop! or My Mom Will Shoot. "I read the script," Arnold said. "It was so bad. You know, I've done some movies that went right in the toilet, right? But this was really bad. [So] I said to myself, I'm going to leak out that I have tremendous interest. I know the way it works in Hollywood. I would then ask for a lot of money. So then they'd say, 'Let's go give it to Sly. Maybe we can get him for cheaper.' And he went for it! He totally went for it."
The film came out in 1992.

I just saw Killing Gunther (just took it out of my DVD player) & can highly recommend it. He doesn't appear until over one hour into the film, but the Arnold mythology pervades the film script, & it's hysterical from beginning to end. He also exec produced, which means he helped arrange for funding, so he believed in the script & deservedly so. Highly recommended to Arnold fans, & also fans of black humor action films.

If not his best film, The Last Action Hero has one of Arnold's best jokes playing Hamlet.

My favorite one-liner in an Arnold film: "Consider that a divorce" (from Total Recall).
