You're right. No other north american sports organization is this stupid. They take what they can get. Ed & Betty Pariso, Tim Gardner and Robin Chang are all guilty of this. I've seen it at local levels up here in Canada too ... promotors requesting that small publications purchase booth space in exchange for getting an opportunity to provide coverage. It's asinine. Then what happens is their is zero coverage and it becomes an underground event. Mission accomplished?

Anyway, good luck to Olympia LLC. They have a Mr. Olympia in Phil Heath who apparently doesn't believe in 'hype' either.

The only thing that has ever mattered to the Weider organization (& its successor) is that it wields complete control of professional bodybuilding in North America, including the gateway into it. It doesn't matter who is helped or hurt (including itself), as long as it the control is maintained. However, that is how all institutional authority functions in western society, so it's not like the Weider machine is unique.
