Curious what this means for Rafael Santoja.
How was the pie split up previously and does this spell disaster for the IFBB Amateur League? Or is it business as usual, just a clearer picture of who governs what?
Aaaaannnd how does this benefit competitors, if at all?Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | Join Rx Muscle on Facebook!

Isn't Santoja the one who recently authorized all Greek bodybuilders banned from competing for a year because one of them assaulted a judge? Or did I get that wrong.

You're confusing me with authorized and banned in the same sentence. But, yeah, they banned everyone? Lol I do remember that, but can't believe it's been enforced.
Giannis Magos is facing a lifetime suspension for his “disrespectful and aggressive behavior,” according to a post on the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness’s official Facebook page.

Sounds like a couple of guys swinging handbags at each other.
Changes are afoot with AMI taking over and the different IFBB divisions are fighting for the best piece of the pie they can get.
I would be astonished if the IFBB ends up spliting in two.Last edited by Big Beat; 09-19-2017 at 03:35 AM.

I wonder if "fired" is the right word here. The International IFBB initiated an investigation over improper conduct by the North American IFBB/NPC, from what I understand, & it appears that Manion is simply severing ties with the organization & inviting pro qualifying organizations in other countries to jump ship & affiliate with the pro league directly. That would presumably put the whammy on the amateur IFBB. Only one amateur IFBB pro qualifier has been run under Manion, & that is the IFBB North Americans. I still stick to what I said when I first heard this: it's "muscle wars" again, with Manion & the NPC in the middle both times.

I was confused until I read into all the time print. The "ifbb" who's president is Dr Santoja is not the same entity as the "ifbb pro league who's president is Jim Manion. I was under the impression the pro league was just the pro division of the IFBB but I was wrong. Didn't dr Santoja take over for Joe weider? And Santoja was on stage every year handing out awards at the olympia but not this year.

It was Ben Weider, not Joe, who oversaw the IFBB from Canada. But the Amateur IFBB is registered in Spain as a nonprofit, & has 190 affiliates. Presumably these affiliates are the entities that Manion is inviting to affiliate with him for pro qualification. If any does, it would probably not be able to compete in the amateur IFBB, which is a major step for them to take.Last edited by hifrommike65; 09-19-2017 at 12:41 PM.

The change here in the UK is more pro-cards. Four more chances.
06, 08, 09 and now 2010 British (4x) and 2008/2010 European Grip Champion (2x)

We need more pro card qualifications outside of the States. Canada's best bodybuilders have been hanging around for years trying to get the few available to the open men.

I wonder which side Arnold willl take, he was always with the Weiders.
I think Manion is pulling apart the empire Ben Weider created. If Ben was alive no way this split happens.
In other news the rumour is Rafael is setting up his own IFBB internation pro division.
I think the whole thing stinks, why fragment something that took so long to build. We have seen how badly having so many organisatio like the WBA, WBC, IBF has fucked up boxing. Nobody knows who is the best in the world anymore and people lose interest. There was a time when the heavyweight belt was the pinnicle of sport. Joe Louis was the most famous sportsman in the world in his day. Now today nobody knows who the real heavyweight champ is. Bodybuilding needs to take heed.
Splitting an organisation is always about a money grab for a few individuals. Its is always a negative thing for fans.
