Default Not sure if slipped disc or muscle tear

So I and my partner did Lumberjack 20, a CrossFit workout last week. The deadlift weight was 275 lbs. I'm pretty sure that my partner didn't warm up really well with that specific weight so, on his 18th deadlift rep, he had a muscle tear. However, I'm not really sure if it is a muscle tear or sciatica since his butt was in so much pain. He was limping and couldn't push through the workout. He didn't want to go to the hospital so I am not really sure if he will be fine or not. He's just hard-headed sometimes. Earlier this morning, we went to the gym to get some workout in. Do you think it is safe for him to get back to training even though his butt still hurts? He was able to do deadlifts at 175 and benchpress. However, I don't want him to strain himself. What do you think?

Try to convince him again to go to the hospital first to check if he is fit to go back to the gym and work out. There are really some people who are not comfortable with having a consultation with a doctor. They are maybe worried to hear the result? He is like my brother-in-law who had a liver disease. Symptoms are literally obvious already but still didn't want to go to the doctor. I remember seeing him and his wife arguing in front of us that they almost parted ways. We even suggested having a marriage counseling to work things out. Anyway, after a month of convincing, he finally gave in (maybe he was already feeling very sick) and went to to the hospital. So, I suggest to just try again to convince him to see a doctor and make sure that he is okay and fit to go back to training.

Thank you nervesandmuscles for your reply. Actually, my partner didn't go to any hospital. He hates hospitals. He researched online and did a self-diagnosis. He is doing better now but he still has back pains from time to time. I am so worried about him but I don't know how to stop being paranoid. But good news, my partner is working closely with a sports psychologist he found from BetterHelp. He is slowly learning self-control and moderating his effort on his training.

    Default emotional burnout

That's a great idea. Every employee should have a vacation, because it's a time to reset. And if you don't have it, employees will have emotional burnout, which will lead to depression. And then it can come in handy https://us.calmerry.com/therapy-for-anxiety where you can get qualified help to improve your mental health. But it is better if you come here from time to time to support your emotional health.
