Herbal Supplements: Friend or Foe?

i've been very interested on the effect of nutrition on the organs, especially on the kidneys and liver. My main area of interest is on constant high protein intake but, on my journey through the internet jungle, i found some other interesting things.

the most famous herbal supplement has been ma haung or epedrin and possible hepatotoxicity. over the years their has been plenty of controversy over this including our infamous hydroxycut. though so many- too many bodybuilders have used ma haung and its related ingrediants without problems, i think caution should still be made. what do others think?

as far as excess protein and kidney function- lets open up of thread on this!

im still trying to find something worth posting, lots of stuff on animals that is pretty heavy on the biochemistry.

on the herbal supplements, i will most likely be moving away from all supplements besides fish oil, Vit.C, D3 in the winter, creatine and protein... there are so many things out there, fat burners especially, that have so much shit in it and you dont even know what most of them are or what they do... but, people take them anyways. another thing is the possible contaminants that are in with the supplements and things that arent included on the label. i would trust the bigger companies are more strict on this as they have more invested and more to lose, you never know though.
