Since coming back from Australia I had a eye opening realization on where i had to be in this sport and why so I had to make a very difficult decision. Positive changes are about to happen, with the backing of my sponsor GENr8 the skies the limit. Every competitor better be on the ball cause I'm coming for you!!!!

Hopefully once you get beyond this 'nonsense', we can hear about whatever BS goes on with the different organizations, even for someone of a higher profile such as yourself. (I remember reading all about Dave Goodin and Angela Mraz)

Best of luck Kiyoshi....and I hope that whatever stage you step on it is for all the right reasons. I really hope that you will be able to discuss more of the situation with us whenever you are able....I myself would like to do the Team Universe but was told that as a natural pro I would not be allowed and would have to revoke my pro status in order to do so.

I will not be competing in the NPC Team Universe in 2010 possibly ever again. After coming back from Australia I was very well received in Aussie and to what direction I should go. That is to compete in the only the Natural Organizations. Which Ones? IFPA as a Pro, INBA/PNBA as a pro, Musclemania as a Pro and possibly the NGA as a Pro. My first show will possibly be in 3 weeks. My shows are all lined up for the year just waiting for the approval of my sponsor. So stay tuned for which ones I will be competing in.

No Problem!!!! After many years of competing off and on my goal was to get an IFBB Pro card. But lets just put this scenario out there. I win the Team Universe Overall I get my IFBB Pro card now then what? I compete in the IFBB as a Pro. Dream come true!!!??? Not quite!!! I'm a competitve person and like to compete. But I know if I do earn my pro card in order to compete at the highest level in the IFBB I would have to give up everything I stood for and let a lot of people down including myself and my daughter which means everything to me. So I made the decision to compete against the best so called naturals out there. When I mean so called naturals, I'm saying there peers saying there the best in there organization. Since all the organization wont come together and have ONE SUPERBOWL to see who's the best then I will try and compete in all the major shows that the organizations have to offer. Like I said I love to compete whether I win or lose thats what makes this fun!!!!

Hey Kiyoshi, I'm sorry to hear about your decision, but I think I also share a unique perspective about it. When I won my pro card in '08 I struggled with the decision about what was next. Like you I had competed in NPC as well as natural pro shows for years. For me there wasn't anything left in the WNBF, and while my ultimate goal has always been to see where I rank among the best naturals in the world I realized that natural bodybuilding was too splintered to ever make that a reality. Competing in the IFBB could be looked at as a no-win situation, as I probably won't be challenging for the top spots, and since it's the IFBB no one believes an athlete could stay natural anyway. What I've decided is to compete one last year and "retire" an IFBB pro. My goals have shifted to simply bring my best physique to the stage to date, and in the process hopefully take out about half the guys in the process. Now, if all the top drug-free organizations could ever come together that would be a different story!
On a side note I did hear that Greg Rando (former TU winner) is doing some WNBF shows this summer - not sure if he earned a card or was given one. Bottom line: Have fun wherever you compete and who knows, someday we might be on the same stage again.

Natural Bodybuilding needs one big show! Where all the best natural pros and team u guys compete in....too bad the wnbf would never let their guys participate but...universal drug testing rules that every one agrees on...imagine seeing, phiip ricardo, jeff rodriguez, jim cordova, brian whitacre, rodney hellaire, Kiyoshi, Tim Martin, Morris Mendez...etc etc etc i can go on..but at the end you crown the best drug free bodybuilder in the world....that would be preaty awesome

Respect
Much respect Kiyoshi and Tim. You are stand up guys. Tim mentored me when I first came into the sport and continue to teach me something each time we meet. Kiyoshi I have read articles on you and always respected your walk. Oh by the way Tim always whooped my butt when we stood by each other. I pray you guys have nothing but blessings in what you choose to do.
