Sword & sandal films!
http://www.bodybuildingreviews.net/b...manreview.html
Here's my website's review of David Chapman's book Retro Stud: Muscle Movie Posters From Around The World (2002), which has posters for the Hercules-type movies from Italy from 1958 to 1964 or so. (Spaghetti westerns replaced them in the Italian film industry, & Steve Reeves turned down the role Clint Eastwood got in the Fistful of Dollars trilogy.) We scanned a lot of the posters for the review, & labeled them with their English titles. I'm going to do more writing on these films, & am in the process of getting decent prints on widescreen DVDs (& believe it or not, Hercules in the Haunted World is on Blu-ray now b/c its director, Mario Bava, is a cult figure).Last edited by hifrommike65; 10-23-2019 at 06:36 AM.

Reg Park was the only actor who actually looked like a Hercules IMHO. The color in this film is psychedelic.Last edited by hifrommike65; 10-23-2019 at 06:42 AM.

My favorite scene in a Steve Reeves film: Morgan the Pirate. The bad guy starts to take off his shirt to fight the Reeves character until he sees Reeves without a shirt (around 2:00 in).Last edited by hifrommike65; 10-23-2019 at 06:47 AM.

One of the rare American films in the genre. Ray Harryhausen's special effects are among his best.
