I think it’s up to the individual bodybuilder that will determine how much they earn. The product they’re selling is their physique and likability. it’s up to them to figure out a way to make themselves marketable and promotable. so if they’re not getting paid enough there’s no one to blame but themselves.

I think today there's an advantage versus yesteryear with the magazines as today is social media helping them out with recognition whereas before in the magazines you have to win a top-five placing in the Olympia to be noticed

Imo; only Olympia level athletes seem to earn well from their sponsors or even prizes.

At the cost of food and supps at this point, there's never enough money to go around. It's a matter of time before we find better ways to get pro's in this sport paid. Like you said, social media might make it easier to get exposed, but gathering a following is hard to matter what. Exposure from the shows is obviously the easiest ways for the top athletes to get noticed.

Very true... not to knock todays bodybuilders but the time in bb early to mid 2000s was the best as was the bodybuilders & the competition much better vibes imo

Maybe it's just me but the bodybuilders of yesteryear seem much more driven than today's.
    Just an observation

bro...in terms of shows no one can reasonably say bodybuilders are paid enough...but its a supply vs demand issue...promoters arent making as much so the prize $ is less...imo thats because too many shows...back in the day with a few big PRO shows it was easier to plan bigger prizes and bigger growth of prize money....
