Does a strong dead lift equate to a bigger bench?
I always wondered if deadlifts helped carry over to my bench press for a stronger bench. What do you guys think? Yes I do, but I do:

Yes, bigger traps and lats from deadlifts will help your bench.
I did more bench pressing than deadlifts and as a result my best bench @495 exceeded my deadlift of 450 at 158lbs bodyweight. It is also how I did in my left shoulder when the spotter on the right picked up the bar and the guy on the left didn't. I wasn't able to return it to the rack after doing it, my arms were too short for the bench my 6'5 friend made. His best bench was 295

495 bench?!? Geez Mac you’re a beast! Wtf that’s nuts.
yea I’ve had spotters in the past, 1 in particular really stand out in my head from 2017 smh. I cringe just thinking about it. All during a strong bulk at the time. I had 275lbs which I was doing for 3 sets of 10. This Armenian looking guy from my gym was there so I asked him for a spot on my last set.
I told him CRYSTAL CLEARLY do NOT TOUCH THE BAR UNLESS I SAY TO. As soon as I popped the weight off, here comes his hands literally yanking the weight up. He yanked it up mostly from one side so most of the weight came on my left side which almost caused an injury as I heard a slight pop.
I got up & started yelling on top of my lungs lol “if you can’t spot AFTER I EXPLAINED HOW TO IN DETAILS, WHY the f would you put your hands on the bar” me & him were seconds away from going blow for blow. Thankfully this off duty cop who happened to be training there came and broke us apart.
the idiot spotting me kept repeating “that’s my style of spotting, idc”Last edited by Poker face Ace; 09-10-2023 at 03:24 PM.

I don't even try to bench anymore, as I need surgery on my left shoulder but not willing to waste a year of rehab in my short time remaining on this Earth.
Set a few state records in the bench back in the early 90s but my dead and squat sucked and I never won a match but had a respectable total.
Then the spotter ruined any chance of doing that.
