Nita Marquez: New IFBB Pro & Author- SIDE NOTES

So, here I am finally after 11 years in the sport (10 years till I won Fitness Nationals at Team U 2008) on the Pro Stage! What a friggin RUSH!!! I was so excited to be at my best, despite what the judging criteria was. They have been going for a softer look for years in fitness and figure, but as many of us do know, not everyone's body looks best when it's jiggly. My body, as tiny as it is (i weigh less than 90 pounds when I hit that stage and i am only 4'10) just looks better leaner. With my height and frame, I look better tight, and as a softer builder, my symmetry gets washed over. With a compact frame like mine, you have to remove fat to showcase the sculpture that muscle-building creates to define a symmetrical build. I have had to work for years to get the amount of mass that I have now on my upper body and I have had to overtrain my lower body for several years to break down the excessive muscle I have traditionally carried on my legs. Swapping size from the lower to the upper half is not easy!! Now that I did it, once my upperbody was at the broadness it needed to be, I look just plain wierd if I keep too much fat over it cause I am so little. "Too short"? okay, well, I guess that's just a matter of opinion. My point is, to all the female athletes who question me about my hardness, I don't specifically try to defy the judges and what they ask for, but rather, I do my best to show them and the audiences the Best Nita Marquez has to show at a given point in my development, and at this point, I look best hard. I will soften up over the next year or two no doubt, but not tremendously, because I am compact, and I don't want to be big and full on my frame, cause I am not a bodybuilder, and I have no interest in looking like one. I am a fitness chick, and while I respect a bodybuilder's overall presentation, I am not trying to show a bulky look on my frame because I am not competing with bodybuilders. If anyone has feedback, I would genuinely appreciate it. No one knows more than the athletes that we ALWAYS HAVE ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT, and for me, all the criticism and feedback is welcomed! Thank you to those of you who have provided me with such ample opinions and direction on these matters. You are taking time to provide your sentiments, so I honor that, and therefor, I am never offended by any of your verbage. THANK YOU DAVE PALUMBO, you are a genuine and honest person in this field, and dude, you know your stuff!!!! MUCH RESPECT!!!

As for my authoring, anchoring, acting, yes!!!! I am doing it all! What a gift! If I had not had such magnificent stages to be a "firecracker" on all these years, I would probably not be doing any of the above, so I am truly thankful for this sport. In all that people complain about in our sanction, there are thousands, if not millions, of opportunities to fine tune ourselves not only as athletes, but also as business people. I am taking full advantage.

HIIIIII NITA!! I kinda met you at the restaurant after Europa ( i was w/ dave and sean and the rx crew) You remind me soooo much of myself, you always seem so happy and you talk A LOT, like ME!!! hahaha!! I LOVE IT!! you are the cutest lil thing!! I actually told them... I wanna look like her!! HA! Anyway... i did follow you over the last year or so and was not only AMAZED at your routine and physique, i was also SUPER EXCITED to see your win at team U!!!
