Is it an Abscess?
Who has one or who has had one? Will an abscess produce sharp or dull pain? Will the site always be red or inflamed? I have read other postings and I am unclear on this. Do home remedies work?

I've never had one but I've heard it will be red and warm to very warm to the touch from the infection. I also read they may take awhile, a week or so, to develop.
I will state that I am in fact NOT a doctor but these are symptoms I have heard of.
I was worried about an abscess once because I had a growing pain in my glute that kept me up for two nights straight and was developing problems walking/sitting/getting out of my chair/being alive but concluded what probably happened was I went threw a vein because the pain took only about a full day to develop and I distinctly remember it bleed quite a bit (usually very little to no bleeding).
I don't know if there are any home remedies that work. All I can think of is possibly taking presciption anibiotics if you have any.Other than that, if you are really worried and the pain persistes don't wait too long to see a doctor. Better safe than sorry.
Sorry if I didn't help you, thats about all I know on the subject.

If you are injecting oil it can sometimes form a little pocket that takes a couple of weeks to dissolve. where is this lump and how much do you inject each time?

just watch it. take your temp a couple times per day. if it continues to get worst and or you start getting a high body temp then you have an infection.
while you wait lightly masage it during a hot shower a couple times per day.
