    Default Another training journal-Bigdaddyd

So after some prodding from a friend, and Curt and SteveG giving a little encouragement to me on with this, here is my training journal.

    So here is the story:

After being overweight for most of my life, 2008 brought about change. I hired Dave P for 16 weeks.

He helped me to go from a pant size of 48 down to a 40. I lost over 12% bodyfat. Sounds good except I was close to 42% fat. That number about blew me away. When I saw that number I went into a panic thinking I was a goner.

After a long battle of getting nowhere, I went to the person I thought knew the most. Dave P. He put me on his diet, had me email pics every week and took no BS. Man, looking at the pics I could not tell the difference, but in person I could. Dave took one look at the pics and knew when I blew the week or even a freaking day. He kept me on track for sure.

So late in 2008 I broke my foot and was down until November. Then the excuses came with holidays. Well, I have gained at least 10 more pounds back from sitting on my ass but I am determined to see my freaking abs for the first time in my adult life.

With dave's diet, my determination, this thread, and the advice of these boards, I will make this happen.

So with that said, here starts yet another training journal.

    Default info and Legs

5'8" 240 with most of the fat in my stomach
41 years old (42 in March)
Definitely an endomorph. I just look at junk food and the fat multiplies.
I am a desk jockey so I do not get much cardio work during the day.

I am definitely not as strong as most of you big dawgs but here is my leg workout today.

Treadmill at 3mph at 3.50 incline for 35 minutes

    Weights
All of these are plate loaded, no cables or machines

    Leg extension 35x20, 45x20, 70x15 as warmups
    Squats 95x15, 135x12, 185x10, 185x7 - Sets 3 and 4 are both 2 reps more than previous workout
    Leg curls 35x15, 45x12, 55x10, 55x8
    Stiff leg deadlifts 45x15, 95x12, 115x12, 135x10

Like I said, I'm not as strong as most of you but I do what I can do.

Let me know if I missed any needed info.

    FOOD:
    4 Omega eggs
Natural PB (too full for the shake)
    6.10 oz chicken breast w 1/3cup cashews
Natural PB (too full for the shake)
    7oz Turkey breast w 1 cup broccoli
25 gram whey protein for dessert

DP is such a cool and knowledgeable guy. Even after my 16 weeks was up the guy was cool enough to tell me I could keep going with him if I wanted to. Well, that was when I broke my foot so I obviously could not keep going. How cool is that? I was taken aback.

Gman, if you are listening to him, you will do awesome.

This is what I am talking about. Everytime I head down the path something happens.

    I got nothing done today.

I have been up since 2am with the baby and my wife because they have been sick all day and all night.

so I have no treadmill work and now weight work today. I did ok on the food until I started feeling like I was gonna hurl. Then I grabbed the dairy to calm my stomach.

I'm going to bed irritated that I wasted a day of workouts but glad I was able to take care of half of the family.

Family is very important, one of the best reasons to miss a workout! Rest up and keep going, you can get back on track tomorrow. Like gman said, you're going to do great!

It's a long road, one day isn't going to make or break it.

    Thumbs up Todays update

I have been existing on crackers and chicken for an upset stomach (whole house is sick), so clearly this is why my energy is up and down.

Worked chest today. Not too bad for me. All the numbers are up. Here it is:

    Incline bench press
    45x20 (warmup), 115x15, 135x12, 185x10 (up 1 rep), 185x7 (up 1 rep)
    Incline dumbbell flyes
    10x20 (warmup/Feel), 25x15, 35x12 (up 2 reps), 35x12 (up 2 reps)
    Flat bench press
    135x10, 155x10, 160x10 (up 5 lbs and 1 rep)
    Dumbell flat press
45x10, 50x10, 55x9 Last workout was 2 sets of 45lbs so this is much better

Felt good during the workout considering what I have had to eat the last two days. I am looking forward to no carbs if you can believe that.

I tried a WTF pump before the workout. That stuff tastes like crap and I felt nothing unusual or good about it. Did I mention it tasted like crap?!

Never tried WTF pump, so I can't say much from experience but, I've never really wanted to try pre workout supps (don't get the science behind them). Hope it was a free sample!

You may not be one of the stronger guys on here but you're stronger than me! Those are good numbers (especially for a sick man!)

Were you just tired by then or is your flat bench just lower than the incline?

First off, best wishes to your family, hope everyone is recovering ok.

Second, way to persevere and get the chest done.

Thanks for the compliment. Some of these guys on here talk about 300 or 400 lb bench...not me!

As far as the flat bench numbers, I have some minor issues with my shoulders so I have found putting flat bench that near last in my routine it does less damage to me. I have totally pre-exhausted the chest at that point so I cannot do that much weight there. At least that is my thinking.

Plus I work out alone so with no spotter I cannot really push totally to my max in case I cannot get the bar up.

Thanks for the encouragement bro. We are all sick as hell. It looks like food poisoning since we ALL have it.

I felt ok until about 2 hours after that chest work and then all hell broke loose.

It will take me a couple days but I will be back. GREAT way to drop 5 or 6 pounds! HA

about those 300-400lb bench pressers. A bunch of damn liars, for the most part.
