Was that article next to the picture of some chick doing a 40lb barbell squat? Oxygen is too mainstream for me. It's like Fitness magazine.

That kind of misleading info is not going to help the many women out there who don't take in enough protein as it is! I really don't understand why they would print some crap.

I used to love Oxygen, but it really sucks now. The articles are so repetitive and full of incorrect information. Plus, I feel like it's just a big ad for Robert Kennedy's wife, Tosca.

Yes the articles are very repetitive. The only thing I seem to really enjoy in them now is the receipes. I never seem to tire of those...well in the aussie oxygen that is. I can't get the american one here where I live for the past few years and stopped purchasing it monthly because the aussie one is basically just a womens health mag.

I've heard more on the order of 35-50 g / sitting - but I wouldn't say it just goes to fat. That's just the 'rule of thumb' that I've heard as the amount of protein your body can metabolize in 2-3 hrs.
Of course I could just be regurgitating bro-telligence too... But I've heard that from several different trainers in different states over the years. This is also about where most of my diets have always ended up having protein in 35-40 g units.

Sassy you are probably pretty close for a woman-esp of your size and condition. Each person is different as far as how much protein they can metabolize in one sitting. Obviously a 300 lb bodybuilder can metabolize more than a 120 lb woman. There def is a range of optimal protein intake but you would need to take a look at the ENTIRE diet before speculating that it would be stored as fat.
Also what the person's activity level's are will play a role. It all goes back to the olde standby "calories IN and calories OUT". There is so much MIS-INFORMATION about diet out there, no wonder their is so much confusion.

Actually, for the women that read Oxygen 20-30 grams of protein is an adequate intake. Might be a false statement but I doubt the soccer moms who read Oxygen need more than that.
You guys with the huge sponsor ads in your signatures make reading the forums annoying.

Oxygen has become a bit of a disappointment to me latley. However...for a beginner who is just getting into weight training and eating right, it is a good starting guide.
I think most of us have just "grown out" of the Mag.

well I wondered if that was intake and then sit and read the rest of the magazine...in which case that'd be true
