Indeed. Bill and his Comets certainly were trying to capitalize on the American ,as well as the worldwide fascination of Space Travel and the Space Race of the 50s and 60s. I am a fan of Rocket88 but I have to say that Bill may have been a one trick pony of sorts as he was quickly eclipsed by Beatlemania and the ensuing surge of stronger rock and roll.

Perhaps if he would have just added an extra L and sung about ending the Vietnam War, America would have embracaed Bill and his Comets moreso than what transpired.
