Default Hammies...Seated or Lying leg curl??

I've always wondered what is best for targeting your hamstrings. I always see the lying leg curl machine taken...and the seated leg curl machine open....so if I'm in a hurry I'll hop on the seated one to hit my hammies....just curious if one IS better than the other for targeting your hamstrings??

    Thanks!

Both in there own way. Seated is great for your inner hams and lying is great for your outer hamstring. So the best advise is to do them both

I would say either one since they both work on the knee flexion of the hamstring, but it should be paired with a hip flexion exercise such as Romanian deadlifts, Good mornings, or stiff legged deadlifts.

Yeh I figured both were somewhat beneficial....always good to switch it up once in a while to hit the muscle fibers from a differant angle....etc....Thank you!

Yes, I do stiff legged deads as well...I was just specifically asking about the differance between these two machines as I ALWAYS see people using the lying one versus the seated machine... Thank you! I LOVE deads btw...probally one of my more favorite leg exercises!

I pick one. I dont think ham curls are really worth it. I do two movement for the hip attachment i.e. stiff legs and reverse hypers and one knee joint attachment leg curls

i do both but I always find seated easier so I do a slow four count up makes it that much harder to control the negative and I like it better

I do both as the lying version gives me more stretch and the seated version allows for more contraction.

I alternate them. So one leg session I will do seated and the next time, I do laying leg curls. But I always do a compound exercise first such as barbell back squats and stiff legged deadlifts. Then I finish with isolation exercises such as leg curls. I love training legs, especially hamstrings and mine are stronger than my quads.

I'll finish my ham days w/ supers of lying leg curl + standing alternating leg curl.

Ive completely eliminated leg curls for the time being, and my knees feel great for the first time in a long time.

Personally, I think variations of GHR's, Good mornings, and SLDL are far more productive.
