Nah i think it's a term that's used wrongly regularly but can sometimes help someone win an argument in relation to why Phil Heath doesn't win shows.

Huh? Phil Heath doesn't win shows??? He's had 6 pro shows of which he's won 3. The other three he placed 2nd, 3rd and 5th.

its hard to explain but ill try. i have 18" arms and im 23 years old. there is a guy at my gym who has 18" arms and he is about 45 years old, i think some where around there. if you look at his arms and mine his look much bigger than mine cause i dont have muscle maturity. from the side our arms look the same size but from the front or back with our arms down to our side his look much bigger. so i think its more about thickness.

so its all semantics then, some small difference between looks that call for muscle maturity.....sounds too complex

no, i am alittle less than him. everytime i see someone older than me i think there bigger even though we r the same size. maybe its just my eyes playing tricks on me but they just look thicker to me. look at dexter vs heath. ya heath is bigger but look at there upper backs. dexters is thicker than heath's yet heath is clearly bigger. i agree that its different from person to person as to when they get it. look at steve kuclo. his legs look like he could compete as a pro now. but his upper body doesnt have the thickness yet.

I don't think it's correct to try and establish 'muscle maturity' by comparing 2 different people.If indeed there's such a thing, you can only determine it by comparing the same person at different ages.

If one can exclude factors like less water retention and fat, different drug or prep. protocols, different training protocols,etc and still notice a difference in same person's muscles, then i suppose it's a fair concept.
