i always hear about how gustavo beating ronnie in the challenge round. can any1 explain to me what they judge on in the challenge round? what was it? anyone have a clip of it?

I beleive it was a one on one posedown and each competitor got to choose a pose they wanted to do. Gustavo choose a side chest I believe and I don't know what Ronnie choose but Gustavo won.

It was a ridiculous side show, where the top 6 (in 2004) and the top 5 (in 2005) each got to challenge the others (one by one) on a specific pose.

You could only choose the same pose twice.

Ronnie won it in 2004. Everyone challenged him with Abs and Thighs and only Jay beat him on that (Dexter lost!).

At the end of it in 2005, Ronnie and Gustavo were tied, so they did a weird one-on-one posedown, and Gustavo won that. The judges consisted of past athletes (including Sergio and Dorian I believe).

because everytime i hear gustavo in a discussion they always mention the time when he beat ronnie

It was supposed to add some entertainment to the show... It failed, but I do applaud them for trying. I've been to enough shows with non-boduybuilders to say with some authority, Bodybuilding shows are generally boring to normal people. I also think something needs to be added to entice the general public to become interested in bodybuilding. Sadly, I have no suggestions, and I don't think Bodybuilding will ever be a mainstream sport.
