I looked into it, but the shipping cost was outrageous.
I'll see if I can remember from who.

About 550 shipped for a set of 120's from this place.

I've seen some deals from gyms going out of business, but that only really helps if it's within driving distance.
You could always try Craigslist as well. You never know.

Get a membership at a gym that does. if your in east texas you most likely live in the DFW area. You have a metroflex in Fort Worth(Rendy de la cruz runs it), Arlington local(dobson runs it), and Plano ( Greg McCoy owns/runs it). Consider yourself blessed. I miss living in Arlington. Real gyms only exist in dreams and in texas...

Yep. It's not too hard to "make" a good pair of dumbells. The standard 25 lb plates aren't too big either. If you have a second hand sports shop in your area (Second Wind, places like that) you can often pick up plates for 50 cents a lb. I've put together 150 lb dumbells using 25 lb standard iron plates and the bars with the twist on ends from Walmart. And, you can fit more on there if needed. The plates are only about 1" thick and you have about 5" per side to work with, so you could pretty easily make 250 lb dumbells- but, yes, definitely weld the ends on if you go that route!!

Find a Gym Equipment distributor in your area. They will bring em in on an existing order and save you a ton with minimal shipping. I bought a set of 120# DB's 4 years ago. And im in a small town in Montana so im sure that will be your best option as well. Yellow page "Gym Equipment" i think.
