Well thank you for enlightening me on this. I really thought he wanted a pair he could have at home. I guess me being a bit sick today has affected my brain. Luckily I took a sick day from work.
I still think my plan was great though and would love to be able to sneak a treadmill out the back door, but I need someone really GOOD at distracting the manager for that one. Staff wouldn't care....hehehe

I just picked up a couple of Olympic type dumbbell handles and carry them in my gym bag. That way I can make any weight I want.

I found 125s and 130s at a Dick's in Schaumberg, a Northwest Chicago suburb. If they don't have them that big in your area, they may order them in for you.

Hmmm my gym has 150s. Months ago I was considering 180s and 200s. As has already been said...the shipping would have been insane.
I am going to look into these olympic style handles...?

I dont really understand...
Olympic style HANDLES.... and then you just buy (for example) 20 x10lb disc weights (x2 for 2 dumbells) and then weld the ends?
Or am I thinking wrong application here?

They are just like an olympic bar. You put the weights on and put a collar on. and when your finished take the weights off and throw them back in your gym bag. You don't have to buy weights because most gyms are full of olympic weights. If you gym has standard bars and plates you just need to buy standard dumbbell handles.
If you want permanent dumbells you can buy standard handles and buy plates as you sugested. You can pick up standard bar collars that attach with alen keys so they don't come off.
I just made an assumption they weren't for his own personal gym.
