Until someone redirects me to the thread where this is relavent I'll expand a bit.
Physical agility (to me) defines athletics...AKA Sports.
Sitting on a bench to lift weight? Restricting calories and walking on a treadmill....Really? Seriously? Do I need to go any further?
I love working out, and I like the competition that exists within bodybuilding..
But its NOT a sport... Not to me.
Just my opinion, not a law.lol

I will agree with some of this.
However, I do think (without question) that serious athletes are every bit as committed as body-builders. Many world class athletes, like bodybuilders, are also truly gifted genetically. The commitment needs to exist in both, to be successful. World class athletes are amazing. The quickness combined with strength and conditioning is at the highest level.
Bodybuilding often becomes more than a hobby.
A lifestyle, even and addiction, would be a fitting title.
I really dont try to ruffle feathers buy insisting that I dont see it as a sport.
I just dont...And I've competed and been lifting for the better part of 25 years. On the other hand, I NEVER could have even made an honest attempt to try out for a pro sports team.
Just dont have the ability.Last edited by Blackie_Lawless; 03-01-2009 at 09:15 AM. Reason: I spell like poop.

I am talking about the sport as a whole. I think a college athlete would be compared to a national level bodybuilder as far as where they are in their sports. I think it is fair to say more has been sacrificed from the bodybuilder then the athlete. I think your point that you are in the sport of bodybuilding and could not do a pro sport means nothing. Many world class athletes do not have the genetics to be bodybuilders so the point is irrelevant. I think that there is alot more that goes into this and that needs to be repected other then you to refer to it as " Dudes in undies, flexing = Muscle bound pageant". It would be nice for someone in the sport to have a little more respect for it, considering you have spent the last "25 years" in it.
