Wear straps...they allow you to go heavier and your biceps will be maxed out forcing you to use your lats...!

I really feel my lats in pulldowns, when I do a few forced reps or cheat reps

I feel it best in my lats when I rest pause at the bottom of the contraction, and then let it up slowly, somehow it engages them very well.
Give it a try.I think I'm black.

I use all of the attachments, but my favorite is the one that is smaller with the handles on the outside that allow for a neutral grip. I can really feel it in my lats when I do those and really squeeze at the bottom of the rep. It's more of a medium grip bar. Also, a little cheating by leaning back when doing them with a really wide grip to MAKE IT HARDER, not EASIER helps stress the lats even more when you hold it for a count at the bottom of the rep. I also prefer to use straps so I can go as heavy as possible.

I think the important thing to take out of all these suggestions is to experiment with some different grips, training methods, and rep ranges.

lean back slightly but dont swing, at the start of the movement squeeze your trapz and pull the bar down slowly to the top of your chest and hold it there for a second an feel the contraction , squeeze ur lats. then let bar up slowly but not the whole way, dont hang out of the bar, keep the pressure on your lats dont go past the sticking point, then repeat. slow and controlled you,ll def feel it!!

At the end of my back workout, I was doing what I call fat boy pull ups. I am sure you have heard of these. and I would hold at the top of the movement for a second or two.

try letting the weight stretch you out when you let it down...this helps me get a better feel out of the exercise. i like to do this for my heavy sets, and then on say the last set i will go to failure then drop the weight down and go for 15-20 half reps...this really forces a ton of blood into my lats....like crash said...just experiment with different stuff, dont give up...good luck.

If you have access to a machine pullover, do a set on the machine of 20 controlled reps. Your shoulder should be slightly higher than the pivot point. Keep your chest up and use a curl grip. Really focus on squeezing your lats thru out the whole movement. Right after that, do a set of pulldowns. Since your lats should already be fatigued, it will be easier to make a neurological connection to the lats. Make sure your movements are controlled and strict. That should help.
Also, from my experience, the easiest pulldown to feel in the lats is seated upright with a curl grip. Remember to pull the scapula down and back as the bar comes down. If you get a chance, look at pictures of Dorian doing that movement. His form was textbook.
Good luck!
