It's a great idea if you're training without a spot/or workout partner..you don't have to max out on the weight to do something productive with the workout.

I started to after I learned about DC training. My recovery ability sucks for full on DC but the idea of placing squats at the end of legs works for me and I've kept the 20 rep widow maker as well...try that and see if you don't walk funny for a few days

Did you already squat before on your leg day or did you just start squatting altogether now? I like putting squats last every once in a while when I've had a poor day nutrition-wise or haven't been able to get enough sleep the night before. I start with hack squats instead, move onto leg presses and then do some light full squats to really kill my legs.

Yes.
10 sets of leg presses.
Then 3 sets of squats.

Sometimes finish with high rep bench squats or front squats

I always finish legs with front squats, 15-30 reps try to kill myself

Funny enough I did this years ago. Your legs just feel tight as fuck when you are going down, it's very painful when you are so pumped and still trying to squat like 3 plates or something.

It's probably a bad idea to do your compound movements following isolation work.
http://www.steroidtimes.com/pre-exha...esnt-work/2009
A recent study that examined muscle activation during the bench press following the completion of dumbbell flyes found that when you bench press after doing flyes, the triceps show higher activation (i.e. were forced to work harder),not the pecs. Common “gym wisdom” is that you can do an isolation exercise prior to a compound movement and thereby force the fatigued muscle to work harder. Unfortunately, this wisdom is patently incorrect according to science (as usual).

because squats are a basic compound movement, i always do them first. not to say ive always done it that way. but as far as squats go ive done them every which way. heavy, light, 3 reps and 100 reps. there is no other movement that makes me feel as shitty as squats do after im done; and thats how i know they are the best. ive found personally going heavy on them is the only way to get a response from my legs, and i just cant do that at the end of my workout.

It will work for a few weeks then the body adapts, I cycle it every three weeks. I reverse all of my workout, every 3 to 6 weeks. keep the muscles guessing.
