knee pain
After doing regular, front squats and hacks my right knee started to hurt anytime I kneel or put weight on it. I can't flex my quad while standing but it doesn't bother me while just walking. Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong? It feels like me knee is going to explode anytime I bend at the knee. This is keeping me from working my legs.

I have the exact same thing. Yesterday I had my first Active Release treatment to fight the problem. Hope it does work...

While I can't see your form on the regular squats, hack squats usually cause most of us to squat with the knees going over the toes thus putting a great deal of sheer stress on the patella. Eventually this causes injury. From what you are describing it sounds like you may have chondromalacia patella, which is the softening and degeneration of the tissue (cartilage) underneath the kneecap (patella). Chondromalacia patella is typically an overuse injury. Anyway, signs and symptoms of patellofemoral pain include:
- A dull, achy pain in the front of your knee
- Increased pain when you walk up or down stairs (the most common symptom)
- Pain in your knee when kneeling or squatting
- Knee pain after sitting for long periods of time
- A grating or grinding sensation when you extend your knee
- Knee stiffness
Simple treatments:
- rest (stay away from the activities that cause symptoms)
- ice
- nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
- physical therapy
The last resort is surgery if the above do not eliminate the pain. It can take six weeks or more before you solve this issue. So patients really helps.

I'm wondering why it hurts more after long periods of rest? I have just had surgery (ACDF) and after resting my ass on a recliner for weeks my knee is really bothering me. Now my knee normally has bothered me in the past but I've adjust my training and slowed my pace (watched my form) and it usually is ok. Now after a long period of rest it is aching. LOL WTF!
BTW I cannot take NSAIDS due to the bone graft in my neck so am only able to take Tylenol or similar...any suggestions?

Physical Medicine Questions are beyond the scope of my internal medicine/age management medicine expertise. I cannot offer suggestions on physical injuries.
