hi there I am new on the page and I really need some expert advise. About 3 years ago - I started a cycle of winstrol & test getting ready for stage - then all of a sudden a started getting the worst break outs ever I had to stop everything immediately as my skin was really taking a hell of a beating - the body looked great, lean nice muscle mass but my skin was a mess, bad breakouts in my face, shoulders & chest area - I had a personal trainer and even him was worried about this and we had to stop with immediate effect all the hard work down the drain.
So after 3 years I am wanting to start a cycle again, but really scared... what do you suggest, been training hard but with NO supplements or roids as I am afraid the same will happen...
I am not on any Birth control never been - so I am not sure what I did wrong and why this is happening - the breakouts. Even if I took low dosages of steroids breakouts started, any advise on how this can be minimized and suggestion on something else to be used?

I joined specifically to tackle this question, since there isn't much in the way of concrete answers for a lot of female athletes/competitors. I have a partial but definitive answer on taking oxandrolone with an IUD inserted. I've seen this question pop up on many other forums. I'm definitely a science-based thinker, and always appreciate answers that come from credible sources (like medical journals, scientists, etc.). SO I decided to do a little digging into this question on my own, given that oxandrolone interactions are not well-documented in readily available online medical texts or journals.

I am on the Mirena, which is a low-dose levonorgestrel intrauterine device (IUD). Its over 99% effective in preventing pregnancy, and once it's inserted into the uterus, it's good for 5+ years and you do not have to do anything with it. Since it releases hormone directly and locally into the uterus, there is no interaction in the liver with other oral medication. Using that same logic, an oral steroid cannot reduce the amount of hormone released by the device, either.

That's good so far, but like I said, there is very little in the way of clinically verified information out there. So I called my primary care provider. They didn't have any information that indicated an interaction. I called (and emailed) Planned Parenthood, who inserted my IUD. They didn't have any additional information, and directed me to talk to a pharmacist. I called 6 pharmacists with the same question, and while some seemed a little more knowledgeable than others, they all accessed similar information that said there is no documented interaction or reduction in efficacy of the Mirena while taking oxandrolone.

As a biologist, I feel reasonably safe with that as an acceptable answer. Hopefully this helps.
