Pre-Workout Meal?
Anyone have a great off season pre workout meal? I usually just have a scoop of whey protein, 6 oz of lean beef and 1 cup of uncle bens converted enriched white rice.

About 2 hrs prior, oatmeal (around 70-80g of carbs worth) with some wheat germ, honey, and flaxseeds and ~60 grams of protein (Usually some type of meat and a shake).
Then I have a pre-workout drink (Something caffeinated) around 30 minutes prior with some creatine.
I seem to do ok with it

I like stimulating proteins like eggs, beef, or liver. Pre-workout meals especially should be geared towards mental acuity. Whatever makes you feel good and alert for the workout is what I would shoot for. For a protein type like me, if I had carbs before a workout I'd be ready to cuddle up and take a nap in the squat rack, so I stick to just the meats. A carb guy wouldn't do well on just meat and whatever carb types he likes to give him energy would be good in addition to stimulating proteins.
However watch out for foods that you just don't react well to. If, for example, you eat eggs and feel tired after it, it doesn't matter at all that I said it's a stimulating protein because obviously something isn't right when you eat it!

Things like minced meat with veggies and fats like double cream in the sauce. Or grated fullfat cheese etc.
It's not like a mela a coupple of hours post workout will affect your muscle glycogen or anyting. Not like muscle glycogen is the most interesting when it comes to inducing hypertrophy anyhow.
