protein shakes/cardio
i know this has probably been answered a million times on here before but i havent been on here in a good 6 months soo.
normally when i go to the gym. i workout first then i do cardio then i take my protein shake after cardio. i wonder if taking my protein shaking immediatley after i workout would effect my cardio. in the sense of me just burning off the calories from the shake instead of just burning calories in general.

Most people will say to wait untill your done with cardio before you have your PWO shake. I have heard of coachs saying you can have a shake PWO before cardio minus the carbs. I feel its better to wait untill after cardio to have your shake. I personally drink some BCAA durning training, do my cardio and eat a solid meal when i get home.

A shake is pretty much a liquid meal. You gonna have a meal in between cardio and weights? They both need to digest, figure it out.

Like Hyde said, save the food/shake for after the cardio. If you're worried about losing muscle, take some BCAA's during training. LG Sciences has a great product if you'd like to try it out, I've had success with it and it is my personal favorite of their entire line. BC&EAA is the name of the product if you are interested.

Waiting till after both weight training and cardio to have a shake is a big mistake. The protein shake minus any carbs and fat, will only act to augment any lipolysis that will take place during this time. In addition, the window of opportunity for protein synthesis to occur, will take place at maximal levels after workout and comes to significant halt at thirty minutes after weight training. I'll assume your cardio is 30 mins or longer and therefore, would be detrimental to your efforts in the gym. Dr. Scott Connelly spoke about this briefly on Dave and John's radio show and was 100% correct in my opinion. Taking the BCAA's is better than doing nothing, but a quality whey meeting the above requirements, is superior.

if you are on the keto then you just do your meals the same regardless. No extra shake.
I bring a water bottle with BCAAS and just drink that throughout.
