Rick Collins shed some light on this for me (below)
I haven’t seen their policy about this, but for now the best short answer is that unless and until bodybuilders are considered a protected class (like women, minorities, homosexuals or the disabled), state and federal anti-discrimination laws generally won’t shield them. Besides, if a health club wants to chase bodybuilders away, they can do it more indirectly but just as effectively by creating a facility that makes hardcore lifting impossible. That’s exactly what Planet Fitness has done, based on what I found in my only visit to one (while traveling in Alabama). There were no heavy dumbbells, limited serious equipment, no protein drinks available, and a fishbowl filled with tootsie rolls (WTF?!) on the counter. The funny tale of how my law associate and I were reprimanded for “lunking” (Planet Fitness’s derogatory term for actually working out) was told in scathing detail by John Romano

As a good holiday deed, my friend bought 3 local homeless guys memeberships to Planet Fatness so they could shave and shower every day... they also get bagels for breakfast once a month and pizza for dinner once a month... its 24 hours, so when it gets bitter cold they can go in and walk on a treadmill or stretch to stay in the warmth... they also get free TV. Not a bad deal to change the lives of 3 men for a few $.
But for a fitness guy... blows!!!! I go there for cardio (for that price its worth it to have a membership in case my hot water goes out or something!) cause I dont have to drive. Get there this morning and all thier TVs are out! Nice. I was so pissed I did the easiest intervals of my life. Running on shear anger!!!!
And I get the business model... I do... but something about the whole NO JUDGEMENT mantra juxtaposed with the NO BODYBUILDERS really irks my sense of logic.

This is so not true that it's not even funny. I would gladly get you a pass to come train at the gym I train at and the majority are bodybuilders. And for the most part everyone puts their weight away and aren't looking for attention. Sure their the occasional jack ass who has not an ounce of gym etiquette, but I just cannot agree with that bold statement you are making towards bb's.

Would it piss them off it they ask if you are a bodybuilder and you say no. But I play for the Washington Redskins (or whatever local NFL team in the area is).

I wonder what would have happened if you sent a female bber over there. Unless she's as big as Iris Kyle, I wonder if he would have asked the same questions. I can't a imagine a woman getting discriminated against @ 5'4" and 140lbs offseason. And perhaps 70lbs may be enough for her, unless she's a heavy or superheavy. If they did, they could have both a sex discrimination lawsuit as well.

If you need someone to film it and have it up in less than a hour from film time fully edited, PM. I am down for that any weekend you choose so DA. And to make sure we don't lose any footage I'll have someone go guerilla style and film from a distance to make sure we miss nothing. Mediocracy must perish.
