Planet fitness & their NO BODYBUILDER rule
There is a new Planet Fitness moving in to my area. They are in direct competition to the gym I run. Their moniker is a “judgment free zone”. I have always heard they do not allow bodybuilders to train there. I always believed that they just had lighter dumbbells as a deterrent, but all the rest was a rumor.
So we decided to send a MOLE in to find out for sure. When my buddy walked in the kid behind the counter looked him up and down and said “are you a bodybuilder” when he replied yes he said flat out. I’m sorry but we don’t allow bodybuilders to train here. The kid looked embarrassed by their rules and a little scared by what reaction he may get.
My friend simply asked why? The Planet Fitness employee said “man I’m really sorry but that’s just the rule. It wasn’t the kid’s fault so why break his balls, but how is this actual rule? What determines a bodybuilder? One that has done a show, or One that trains a little too hard for their taste and has more muscle then the average member?
This is their anti bodybuilder logo below

kinda funny that tehy call it a "judgement free zone" yet they do exactly that when it comes to bodybuilders, funny thing is that MOST competitive bodybuilders are usually the quietest, least annoying members of any gym, they know what they're doing and get in and get out, it's the old folks who are the most annoying, not knowing how to do anything and taking up space talking and sitting on benches.

Ulimate hypocrisy. There was a time when all bodybuilders were either skinny or fat and they went ot the gym to build up their muscles. I mean what the hell is the gym for? And Judgement free zone unless you are a bodybuilder.

A buddy of mine who looks like he should compete trains at the one near me, no problems.
It is a fucked up rule though.

i went to take a leak after finishing up barbell shrugs the other day and a nerdy mid 50's skinny/fat guy with glasses is unloading the bar when i walk out, i figure "no big deal" because i didn't feel like unloading it anyway, the old guy takes 4 plates off one side and leaves the other side completely loaded and by teh grace of God the bar didn't fly through the wall, i told a front desk guy to keep an eye on him before he hurts himself.

Wow! They actually have an anti-bodybuilder "logo"? I thought maybe it was an anti-white guy with mustache doing fly rule. I think there are laws against that It would be nice to get them on camera with a local news guy explaining why they wouldn't allow a physically fit person in their establishment, lol.

If I'm not mistaken in the same gym (well, it's a chain), they ring a bell if you drop a DB or drop weights. Yeah and the DB's go up to like 80?

Yea, there are a few in the Charlotte area and a well known, well respected NPC athlete from that area stopped by one day and wanted to do nothing but cardio and they would not allow him to even pay a guest fee for the day. Haters.
