How often do you hit blood vessels?
Hey everyone,
I'm interested in hearing:
How often do you hit blood vessels when pinning?
How far do you aspirate to check for blood?
If you don't hit a blood vessel, what are you aspirating? muscle tissue? what does it look like?
Thanks

there was a thread a while back that discussed how often hitting a blood vessel:
[ame="http://forums.rxmuscle.com/showthread.php?t=25612"]How Many Times - RX Muscle Forums[/ame]
when you aspirate you pull the pin back you will get one of two thing immediately, and air bubble or blood. if you got air you are good to push the drug into the muscle. If you got blood re pin. some change the needle some dont.

Oops sorry about that, I honestly did alot of searching but couldn't find anything. Sometimes these search toold aren't much help unless you happen to be lucky on the title ( I was searching for blood vessel, aspirations, etc, i missed searching for "how many times" i guess). Feel free to get this thread deleted then. At the same time that older thread didn't discuss how far back people pull on the plunger when they aspirate. I generally pull back about 0.2cc. And yup i get the air bubbles. The posts from that old thread mentioned how when people draw blood they just take it out and re-inject...might that not be a bad idea in terms of cleanliness? The nursing instruciton always advise to disregard the needle and syringe. Is that just precaution?
I always hear people say that when you draw blood you will know it, well a few times I have seen a couple very small dark globules when I aspirated but I wasn't sure if that was from a blood vessel or just from surrounding muscle tissue; so I just injected. I also do tend to take my time when aspirating so that's why i figure its just a bit of bleeding from surrounding tissue in the muscle rather than a blood vessel. Am I wrong?

when you get the air bubble it is somewhat resistant to pull back on the plunger, when you get blood it will come back very easy and the syringe will fill with blood pretty quick. I dont think it matters how far you pull back. when you hit a vessel you WILL KNOW.

A year ago, my gf injected Tren in my right delt. Once it went through, my blood sugar crashed, I started sweating almost immediately, I coughed continuously for 5-10 minutes and my face turned yellow.
I actually thought I was about to die.

Havent hit one in over a year i still aspirate. too much at stake not to take an extra 3 seconds to pull back on the plunger.

I haven't hit any. I'm strictly a quad and delt guy. I aspirate once and a while, usually I draw back enough to get the air bubble and that's it.

i have hit a vein 3 times in a year and a half and I always aspirate. I only do glutes and delts. 2 were in a delt one was in the glute.
it is freaky seeing the syringe fill up with blood.

I hate when I draw that dark red blood into the syringe and have to inject the blood. Happens seldomly tho and mostly when I pin my quads.
