She needs a tan. It would make her look 100% better.

I stil believe genetics play the largest role... look at young gymnasts some of them have abs and quads and others just look thick...doing the exact same regimen.

For most though I don't believe yoga and pilates alone would give you a jacked look...

To add to that comment, the thread is useless without pics...... cliche' only because We are having a hard time visualizing what this woman actually looks like.

Damn shame... she used to be able to turn heads without even trying.
The 1985 version of her is what I like the best. And..... People do age 25 years later.

I don't see that she's particularly "built" as much as just lean as fuck. Not skinny fat as if she were just skinny, but actually lean / low bodyfat, but not exactly due to a much higher lean muscle mass content as much as a low level of bodyfat.

My parents (68 & 70, mom w/ a recently replaced hip) both do pilates and have done some yoga. I wish to God they'd both do more resistance training, but they are not "built", but they are in great shape. I've also seen plenty of tubby yoga & pilates people.

I dunno, yoga & pilates people just don't remind me of the word "built". Lean, balanced, flexible, but not "built".

Interesting thing about this is she may actually be in shape. Just not the shape we are all acustomed too as in big muscles. Maybe her doctor can speak for her. I guess what I'm saying is that if she really is in shape (and she has to because of the dancing)and she is getting the reaction she is getting, how is that different from the general public reacting the way they do when they see a really muscular female? We, I, would like to see her with more muscle. Because that is what we really like. Having said that, I can't condemn her for they way she chooses to look.

Can someone tell the difference between a marathoner's physique and a malnourished(think Auschwitz Survivor of the holocaust) Person? The runners may look real skinny, but they are very fit too. In a different way than us of course.

Madonna has always had white skin. She has never tanned her body or done the fake tans.

Actually this is kind of off topic here, but have you seen the recent pics of her? Madonna's face seems to look quite a bit fuller and I think she has had those fat injections.

Its a valid point - each person's interpretation of "built" is relative, but let's be honest here - this is a muscle board, and we're talking about a physique sport, so its not all that foreign to see nice big peaks on a set of biceps. But I think what's interesting is that most people think just any sort of shape in the arms implies you're "muscular" or "in shape". In many cases it just means you aren't fat. It doesn't necessarily mean you're muscular. Even the term "in shape" can be relative - i know plenty of tubby yoga instructors who are medically "in shape".

I read madonna does yoga 7 days a week for like 2 or 3 hours. That some serious over kill!

I did yoga for a period of 3 months a few years back and didn't do any weights and my legs got quite hard but they did not grow!
I bet Madonna is still lifting some weights though. I thought she did a variation of yoga, running and weights.

I am an IFBB Figure Pro, all natural and always have been...and I have to say that the yoga I do is definitely a workout that could totally build muscle. Maybe a lot of you are thinking about Hatha yoga or maybe many of you have never practiced yoga, but I do vinyasa/ashtanga type work and it is definitely hard. I practice in privately taught classes - just myself, my man (who is extremely muscular), and the teacher. We also weight train, but I have to say that I 100% believe that someone who is genetically muscular (such as myself) who only trains with yoga could totally be fit and muscular looking. In fact, the only reason I train with weights is because I love it - I train with my boyfriend and enjoy the time with him, and also for health benefits (i.e., bone strength, heart health, etc.).
