Default Looking for a new training system

I`m looking for a new way of training.. before i used to just train the "regular way".. you know 3-4 exercies each with 3-4 sets and work up to your max weight for like 8-12 reps.
I`m looking for one which preferably leaves me more off days, before i had around 5-6 days a week in the gym
What do you suggest i look into?

For one, I'd say have a read of the sticky threads, and learn about the different styles of training. You may be asking for info that is already there, and you'll get 100% more detail and information, as those threads have been written up for that purpose.

Personally, the way you train now I would say is spot on, but your spending too many days in the gym. I do 4 days a week, and I'm rarely in over an hour and a half, depending on the split.

However, if your looking for a different way to train with lower days (let's say 3), have you ever considered a push pull program ?

Essentially your doing all your pulling movements in one day, and your pushing movements another day, and on the 3rd day you can do the muscle groups you didn't target (traps, abs, calves tend to get left out) or you can fit these around your two day split, leaving you with much more free time, and crucially, a lot of repair time.

Personally, I think this is a good programme for those looking to tone up, and those starting out, but I never see it as comprehensive enough for bodybuilding, because there just aren't enough exercises to target paticular areas.

Again, that's just one idea, but get reading the sticky threads, the knowledge you'll get will come in handy even if you don't do that paticular style of training.

Try this, it would be a big change from the type of training you are probably used to, with this you train 4x a week. This thread provides a basic outline of the westside method. I could provide you with more information if you want.

thx guys for the replies.. you know i have been trolling, modding and participating in countless forums for 3/4+ years(i`m 19) and i didnt even notice these particular threads.

would the westside training method be good for building up a bodybuilding physique?

I think it will, it's great for addinng thickness. The westside method will really emphasize your fast twitch muscle fibers, and those are the bigger muscle fibers. I wouldn't suggest a bodybuilder to stay on it forever, but I think you would probably see great results from following it for a while.

This .. Every system will yield something for you if done religiously . Read the systems , connect each of their basics with what has work more for you and give it a try . Sometimes change it's hard , but eventually you can find your way in a new system.
