Alcohol, fat gain??
I know too much beer makes you fat with the carbs.. but I am in college.. and drinking is simply part of the lifestyle.. i try to only drink rum, vodka with diet drinks.. I read online that a maximum of 5 percent of alcohol calories could be stored as fat..
So basically my question is this.. Does drinking hardbar.. (im talking till you are drunk.. not few drinks here and there) make you gain fat and weight??
(I'm not talking about carb mix drinks, or munchies alcohol gives you.. i'm talking staight hardbar...)

What sort of a dumb question is this?
Most alcholic drinks are just empty calories, you'd be better off eating junk food...

alcohol does change the way the liver handles and disposes of fat. Also there is some evidence that alcohol increases aromatase biosynthesis. An elevation in E2 could also promote fat accumulation... just a stab at an answer here...

I'm surfing online.. some people make good points that there are alcoholics that consume 4000 calories of alcohol a day.. much higher than maintenance.. and are skinnier as hell..

Yeah i'm at college too, I drink now and again but just because the people around you are drinking it doesn't mean you should.
If drinking is more important that body maintainence and bodybuilding then drink all you want, be my guest.
These people will be ectomorphs, and they'll probably be young so their metabolism will be fast as hell.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I'm in college too, but I don't use that as an excuse to go crazy. I've been bulking for a while now so I partake from time to time (within reason), but you best believe if I were prepping for a contest, or when I really just don't think I should drink, that I DON'T DRINK. You're in control of what you ingest, not the people around you or your environment. "I'm in college" is just a shitty excuse.

I;ve already answered this in depth in the science section, go take a look, and read the responses and article presented.
Alcohol consumption and calories are the least of the problem, it's much more complicated than that

Spoken in basic terms, the body will switch energy systems with alcohol intake. Alcohol calories are used primary, then any additional calories are stored as bodyfat immediately. If one drinks 12 beer, thats roughly 1400 calories, and most of them will be used as storage, any additional calories will immediately be stored as bodyfat because they are secondary fuel sources, and you'll spend the next 10-12 hours buring basically no calories from the alcohol.
Then, insulin is affected. The body releases insulin, more than normal. Cortisol levels rise, and stay elevated for almost 2 days after the drinking occured. As cortisol rises, and stays elevated, testosterone decreases, for those 2 days or so. As testosterone decreases and cortisol rises, a concurrent rise in estrogen occurs. All these factors create an ideal fat gaining enviroment.
Now, if you drink all weekend, this cascade of events can last 4-5 days, and when homeostasis starts winning, you drink the following weekend, and the cascade starts all over again.
If you choose to drink anyways, here is the best way to do it.
Drink hard alcohol with diet soda.
Take 6 grams of fish oil before/after drinking, and increase fish oil intake for the following day.
Take 100mg b-complex before and after drinking as well.
Do not eat during or after drinking, take undenatured whey isolate for calories all next morning, do not eat until the afternoon.
This works even better while on testosterone, as the effects are lessened greatly.

You should be worried about a lot of things. Fat gain, losing muscle, but mainly alcohol f*cks your body up so bad. If you keep that hard drinking and partying over the years you are going to end up in a pretty bad situation, health wise. It does nothing good for your body, as stated, it's empty calories, it gives you headaches, people do dumb ass shit while drunk, why do you want to get hammered like this? I'm 22 and I do not drink, I don't need it to have a good time. But I guess we are all different.
