Capitol Grill is marvelous. if you are looking for something a little more private, the same group owns Mastro's in north scottsdale. where capitol grill has a very nice elegant interior, mastros has a 1940's mobster kinda feel, without looking cheap. plus, mastros has sweet potato fries and a warm spinach and bacon salad..... I miss it. i lived in phoenix for 5 years. havent been back in 3.5 now.
after eating at captiol grill, you can walk around the outdoor mall. lots of great high end shopping. mastros doesnt have a lot around it however.
another option, owned by the same group, which has the same great steaks, but a much larger seafood selection is Mastor's Ocean Club in North Scottsdale again, in a high end shopping district and near the TPC golf course.

Stay right in Peoria. You might catch some spring training going on. There are a ton of great hotels that are within your budget.
Scottsdale's nightlife is awesome. I call it "Snottsdale" for certain reasons, but it is what it is. Check out "The Devil's Martini" for some nightlife action. If you plan on drinking and partying until sunrise, keep your hotel close to your nightlife.
If you're going to rent a car, watch your speed. "Big Brother" is always on the lookout. TONS of cameras, local cops and highway patrol. Keep it @ 73-75 MPH.
Personally, I'd stay in Peoria. A lot to do over there, a lot of nice options, and relatively inexpensive and close to everything.http://forums.rxmuscle.com/showthread.php?t=28840

The problem is that those are big chain restaurants. There's like 25 Capital Grille's around the US, if not more. It sounds like he's looking for something top-notch, high-class and undeniably not generic.

That is why I recommended Bourbon Steak(much smaller, more exclusive chain), J&G's or even a place like Deseo at Kierland Resort.

Thank you, I read over the Bourbon Steak menu and it looks more like what I had in mind (than mastro's city hall where I made reservations). I'll call tomorrow to see if I can make reservations.
I'm now kicking myself for booking a room at the Montelucia rather than the Fairmont. Oh well, looks like it's not too long of a drive.
