Squats are not overrated! Tell you what....try doing them dead last in your workout? I rarely go over 315 and after everything else I put my legs through, my quads are screaming for freaking mercy!

I retract my statements squats are the bread and butter. I stopped doing them for 6 weeks or so (still kept light fronts in a few times) but yesterday...
(I'm 165 5'8'')
135(12), 155(10), 175(8), 195(6), 225(6), 245(6), 135x12x4 and 3 sets of 12 frog squats afterwords will a good deep stretch.
I'm debilitated.

I don't make excuses for not doing them, I just don't like doing them. I squatted for a couple years until I got lazy. I quit doing them about six months ago. Squats are uncomfortable. I just do leg presses, hacks, and lunges and for whatever reason, I have not noticed any difference in my legs now compared to when I was squatting. I decided that the extra effort was not worth any extra benefit I was getting. One thing has changed- I like training legs now! I guess I am not hardcore...and I don't care.

IMO squats are only overrated if ur doing them wrong, and trust me there are plenty fo ways to do squats wrong. wrong stance, not going deep enough, using too much weight, etc etc. once you get into knowing how to do them correctly, squats are great.

I do all kinds of squats: back squats, front squats, overhead squats, zercher squats, box squats, squats with a narrow stance, squats with a wide stance, sometimes I'll just do 500 really fast squats with no weight. My ass is so big that I just split my shorts the other day doing squats ... right down the ass it was hilarious. But I also have pretty thick legs to.

By doing squats, you increase the available surface area for your pins. More than enough reason to squat!

I'm glad you retracted it! The thing is once you hit a "plateu" every exercise seems to give similar returns.... i suspect you have hit 275 on the squats are finding it tough to get any heavier. Unfortunately it is at these cross roads where you have to do something drastic with the diet to break through - ie really sacrifice the esthetics and get truly an excess of calories and the subsequent stored energy and start making progress again...
