Debbie Bramwell interview
1. What is your name and where do you live?
My name is Debbie Bramwell and I just recently moved to birmingham , alabama
2. Relationship status? and family?
I am engaged to be married in April....we would like to have a child in a few years
3. What is your profession? Do you do something besides bodybuilding?
I was a hairstylist for 25 years.I worked out of my house for the last 2 years before I move to Alabama.I love doing hair but dont want to work for someone again and rebuild a clientele.I am now pursuing personal training and will also be involved with Propta. It is an organization were you can get certified by a pro to be a personal trainer. You can learn more about it at Propta.com
4. What got you involved in bodybuilding?
I got talked into doing my first show by a trainer in an old gym in California. He saw my potential after putting me on the apex nutrition program. I kept putting it off because I was shy about getting up in front of people in a little posing suit! Finally after completing the Tony Robbins 30 day personal power program I decided to conquer my fear of getting up in front of people and wanted to improve physically so I changed my mindset and visualized my way to my first win!
5. Tell us about winning your procard. How long had you been competing? What did you do differently to win this time?
Wow! what a dream come true! My first show was in 1997.I just competed locally and to stay in shape then got talked into competing nationally and hit the usa stage in 2002 and took 5th . It wasnt until then that I wanted to really be a bodybuilder.I placed in the top 5 in most of my national shows and came close to my pro card in 2006 at the masters nationals where I placed first in LHW class..I lost the overall and set my sites to come back in 2007. I just kept working and sculpting my physique to fit the judging criteria(streamline)and knew months before masters nationals 2007 that this was my show.I had goosebumps and such a knowing it was my time...and then it was!
6. What was your greatest personal moment in bodybuilding?
Hearing my name when I earned my pro card ....was my greatest moment....I attached a picture that shows that moment!
7. What do you think about women's bodybuilding and the feminity factor?
I personally feel that women bodybuilders are the sexiest woman...nothing like a shapely, strong physique and beautiful lines....whats more feminine then that? :-)
8. Debbie, it's no secret the positive, uplifting, inspirational person you are. Who inspires YOU?
I have been very passionate about personal growth work and reading alot of books/going to seminars etc...I am a huge fan of Tony Robbins and I love inspirational books by Wayne Dyer, Neale Walsch,James Redfield...to name just a few
9. Why bodybuilding?
It wasnt something I planned...I believe god has me on this journey to inspire people from the inside/out.
10. What are your goals now that you are a pro?
