Nitric Oxide while dieting?
I guess this is the forum to put this in? Just a quick question about using NO and creatine while dieting. I've been dieting for 10 weeks now, and haven't used NO because of the unnecessary calories contained in it from the sugar, and I haven't used creatine because I don't want to hold any more water. But, since NO does help in fat oxidation, would the benefits (fat burn, boost in gym) outweight the fact that there is typically somewhere around 7g+ of sugar in each scoop? I know it's such a small number, but when I'm counting everything I put in my body, I get a little anal. And has anyone used creatine while dieting, specifically kre-alkalyn? It always helps my endurance, so I guess I have the same question on it. Do you think the benefits outweight the water retention? I do tend to hold more fluids no matter what type of creatine I use, although krealkalyn is supposedly a "no bloat" form. Anyway, leave me some thoughts or some applied science from your own experience.

Good question about the NO products? Not sure if it would be recommended during contest prep, but I was wondering if it would be wise to use NO while on a keto diet? I heard that vpx had and NO product with no carbs.

I know Dave and John talked about using NO while on keto on one of the radio shows recently. You may ask them.

For me I would not use anything with Creatine in it while trying to loose weight. The Kre-Alkalyn may be the way to go. Every one's body is different, you just have to experiment and find out what work's best for you.

When I dieted for my show, using a similar diet to the Palumbo diet I was using a non-stimulant mix of arginine, ALCAR, and GLPC which seemed to aid in my workouts as well as my fight against fat burning.

I always use creatine while dieting. The goal is to lose fat, not water, and when dosed properly creatine holds water intracellularly, not subcutaneously. Creatine help retain muscle while in caloric deficit.
As for NO products, just make sure you are accounting for any calories/carbs that are in in when planning your macros.

Thanks for the input everyone. I think I'm going to do some searching and see what product has the lowest caloric content. In the past I've used NOXplode, which I believe is 7g carbs per scoop. I would do 2 scoops, so that was 56 calories only on training days. Surely there's something out there that's diet-conscious.

This is what Dave said about NO products when I asked him:
I was thinking of trying some NO Shotgun by VPX, it has no carbs. Any suggestions?
DP: No Shotgun and similar products have stimulants that raise cortisol levels. Shotgun also has over 80 calories, which will affect your total daily intake and could slow fatloss. Remember that the pump is just visual, what matters is retaining muscle and strength while losing fat. If youre losing your pump during your workout, you may be doing too many sets!

First, let me say I'm glad you didn't choose to use NO Shotgun. That stuff tastes like dirty ass.
Second, whatever Dave says typically makes perfect sense, and in this case it definitely does. I'm not on a keto diet, so a small amount of carbs would not matter too much I don't suppose. But preferably, I would not be taking in any extra from a supplement. Too bad NO Shotgun tastes so terrible.

I have tried several different brands' pill form products and I just don't notice anything from them. I got a ton of the Muscletech Nano pills at the ASC one year and used maybe 4 or 5 packs before I finally decided there was no point in taking them if I wasn't getting anything out of it. I also tried NO and NO Black, neither of which did anything. Powders seem to work the best for me.
