I think even when you mean to them, they think you are playing hard to get. Men are primal subjects and only the boring ones are not thinking sex the whole time they are in your presence. LOL

The real question is why girls think you're trying to hit on them even when you say something as insignificant as "excuse me" when you're simply trying to walk the fuck by. Perhaps its the smile. Yes...its the smile. It cant possibly mean "gee, Im just trying to be cordial in a public setting and not act like I notice you have a booger in your nose and you smell like you havent douched in a month. I guess it's me then! a number of guys on Myspace have been talking to me, asking me workout questions, giving me compliments and general chit chat and I respond back by saying you are so nice, sweet, considerate stuff like that. Then they ask for my personal email so I give it to them then thats where it starts, the crotch pics, the I will rock your world, I am really big, you want to wrestle. etc...
