Anxious to Learn
Hi All,
I'm James and I'm 28 y/o and a United States Marine. I was wondering if I could get some guidance. I'm thinking about doing my first show, and I don't have any experience training for bodybuilding. I have always trained for endurance. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or rules of thumb.
Facts:
Week 4 of my 1st DC Blast
Weight: est. 168
Height: 5'8
Requesting:
Diet Suggestions (for muscle gain)
Contest Prep
Hints
Suggestions
I'm looking to do the Nov 6th, 2010 - NPC North Vally Plastic Surgery Western Regional. I'm pretty far out but I figure I need the time to get bigger and then a good cutting diet.
Thanks,
James

the most important thing i can see based on that picture for YOU is to build your back/lats and shoulders ALOT. Because you have really wide hipe bones, if you dont make your lats stand out alot and increase your width your going to always look like a box. Even if you get really lean and shredded, your hip bones are going to stand out rediculously. good luck.

Starting simple to add muscle... I'll throw it out here what I would do if i were you.
Protein: 350g
Carbs: 500g
fats: 60g
High volume training - if you don't like high volume training, then drop the carbs to around 350-375... because you will just end up getting fat. If you are getting these calories AND high volume training - you will definitely put some size on.
Do you supplement? I would suggest at the minimum a BCAA, multi-vitamin, and perhaps some sort of beta-alinine product during training.
Try to eat as much solid food as possible... if you need to have a shake, have it, but have it PWO and then eat another meal about an hour or 1.5 hour after.
This is just shooting from the hip, but I think it would be a good starting point.

The Big Sexy,
Thanks brother!
BCAA's= Extend (SCIVATION)
PWO=2 scoops and BCAA's
Multi-vitamins and Minerals
For the most part, I'm eating every 2.5 hours-3 hours. Usually 10-14 oz of chicken with salad or brown rice.
Training: I'm a DC (doggcrapp) guy right now, I've seen great results strength wise (I'm in the middle of week 4). My girlfriend is gonna take my progress pics tonight.
Thanks again,
JT

Wow! 7 years later...we'll let's see
I walk around at about 201ish and still love training although my personal and professional aspirations changed and took a year and change off. Thanks RX for keeping this thread. Always good to remember where I started needed the motivation.
