I just looked at the numbers on the sides.
That system worked for me with American money too.

I've been training there the last few weeks and something is definately heavier. I can inclne 365 for 10 reps at bev's I get 335 for about 8. When I go back to golds my numbers go back to normal. Even Ben White said at the bench challenge that 315 was more like 340. IMO the weights are heavier.

I always figured it was a joke about people not lifting well under pressure. Why would a gym buy 45lb plates that weigh more than 45lb. And what company would make such a thing. Surely a gym would have to remove them before any one made an insurance claim about an injury.
Actually now I think about it. The dumbells at my gym are heavy too. Thats why I don't lift as much as I think I should. That must be it.Last edited by Sledge; 04-07-2010 at 08:23 AM.

really every plate needs to be weighed
cuz plates that are exactly the weight they are at plate value are extremely expensive
when i powerlifted the gym i worked out at my 1st hubby & my coach Powerlifting legend Doug Young & I
weighed every plate in the gym and painted it on the plates
45 lb plates can range from 41 to 49 lbs
so if you are training max lifts and for competition
if the weights are off
number 1 ~ you can get injured
number 2 ~ you might not be lifting as much as you think or more than
which can really skrew you up if you are trying to lift a certain weight in competition
cuz a 1 or more on a max lift can fuck you over
so the moral of the story is if you are having a competition
the plates need to be weighed so you know exactly whatz on the bar
