Where did she say she thought the girls of bbing today are too big? She said after 10 yrs she didn't think she could gain the necessary mass to compete. That doesn't mean she disapproves of the mass just that she feels she lacks it.

Bodybuilding was put on hold temporarily in 1987 as Ericca married for the first time, graduated from UMD and gave birth to her daughter Jessica in 1988. After a divorce in 1992, Ericca met her current husband and began training for her first bodybuilding show that she won in grand fashion. After a string of bodybuilding competition successes locally, in Minnesota, and at the national level Ericca and family moved to Irvine, California in January of 1995. And at the 1995 North American Championships, Ericca won the overall title and earned her Pro card.

Kim Chizevsky moved from IFBB Pro bodybuilding to Figure competition, didn't she?* I would hope that Kern is given the same consideration.

*Googled! Chizevsky won her final Olympia (so far) in 1999 and reemerged as a Figure athlete in 2003 at the IFBB Show of Strength Pro Championship where she placed 9th.

Ericca Kern didn't. But by my interpretation neither did Carolyn Bryant.

Carolyn, imo, was saying that Kern believes "the girls are too big to compete" against. Too big relative to her own development after ten years out of the game. Here is Kern's quote again:

"Hi Myriam.. My true love is the iron and the bodybuilding..I just don't think that after 10 years I could gain the size I'd need to stand on stage next to everyone in the BB division."

You're right (again, imo), GM, Kern never stated today's FBB are too big. Just that she's not sure if she could hang.

She is in great shape. Smaller now, yes?

Clifta Coulter did the same thing. She used to compete as a bodybuilder in the early 90s. She recently made a come back as a figure competitor with a much smaller body.

You mention that Kim Chizevsky reemerged as a figure competitor in 2003 after winning her last Olympia in 1999. The fact is that Kim also tried Pro Fitness in 2001 when she placed 6th in the Fitness International. She also entered the 2002 Southwest Pro Fitness in Dallas and was injured during her routine and had to withdraw. Her two ventures into Pro Figure were the Show of Strength in 2003 and '04. She placed 9th in '03 and 7th in '04. Her attempts to enter the Pro Fitness events were painful to watch. She simply wasn't cut out to be a fitness competitor.
