    Default i need advice

    beginning last august at a weight of 150 i decided to start lifting again.

    as of now i am 200 lbs 5'10" i have gained some noticeable body fat (mainly around the love handles)which i dont really like.

    i am attaching some pics please let me know if i should continue to bulk or should i lean out since summer is a few months away.

    please give any and all advice possible...will be much appreciated

    Bro this is just personal prefrence, if you want to keep bulking and don't feel bad about being a little "chubby" then go for broke, however, it sounds like you want to be leaner so if I were you I would diet really hard for 8-12 weeks until I was very lean and then do a very clean bulk just adding a half a pound or so a week.

    Like Iron said, it's all about personal preference.

    If you want to put on some muscle you're invariably going to put on some fat. Individual differences occur as to where the fat gets stored... for me, I put on the fat in my butt & lower abs; you put it on in your sides.

    If you want to diet for the summer, diet. That being said, you're not going to put on muscle mass when dieting.

    One big thing is only eat protein and fat before bed, no carbs. Keep around 30-35% of your carbs for post workout. If it were me I'd diet for summer, like I've always done (for the beach and ladies).

    Find out what diet works best for you, and diet hard.

    Low Carb? Moderate Carb?
    Low Fat diet?

    If you're trying to build muscle, I wouldnt recommend a low carb diet..stick to moderate carbs,high protein, and very low fats.

    I agree, diet down. You dont need to diet to contest condition but if you diet to a low bodyfat, you can take advantage of that when you start your bulk and put on some quality size.

    i dont see why you wouldnt be able to do both man. if you're gaining too much fat, then guess what. get your diet in check bro. most bodybuilders these days dont get fat like the old days. these guys are lean all year long so they dont have to bust their butts to get ready for a show. trust me, i've been there man. i'm a natural competitor at 200lbs even and i'm only about 15-20 lbs heavier right now. which means a 12 week prep shouldnt be that difficult for me to do. plus i've still gained a good amount of quality weight. i think you may have let your diet get away from you and gone over to the dark side of sweets and junk food man. get back on track. bulk and lean up at the same time bro. it can be done.

    Everyone's different. Decide what your goals are. If you wanna look good on the beach, diet. If you wanna really blow up, a diet will just slow your progress. Yes staying leaner has some benefits but a little fat never killed anybody. Mass moves mass and moving heavier weights builds bigger muscle. You would be surprised how much you would grow if you put aside a little fear of a gut. But then again, like I said above, it's all goal-dependent. Carb-cycling (i've never done, so sorry i can't guide you) is a good idea to practice for bulking to stay a bit leaner as well. I have some friends that love it.
