qualification clarification
I know there was another thread on this but I'll be damned if I can find it!
so I know it's one year qualification....and they say one calendar year....does that mean Jan-Dec or a full calendar year from your qualification date? I was thinking if someone qualified this past weekend they're good for '11 but not past that?

its my understanding that its the rest of the year you qualify in, PLUS 1 yr. But, I could be wrong.

^this is my understanding as well. If you qualify in January of 2010, you're good thru the end of 2011.

Here's another qualification question. Not that it pertains to me....LOL....just curious. Say someone is a national level this year but places, say, 6th in a national level show. Is that person qualified for national level next year or do they have to requalify?

If they qualified for that national show at a regional show this year, and then competed in a national show this year, they are still qualified for a national show next year, regardless of placing in this year's national show.
If they qualified for that national show at a regional show last year and didn't place in top 5, then they would have to requalify for a national show next year, as their last year's regional show qualifier expires at the end of this year.

So it's top 5 to stay qualified. Gotcha.

It is even more confusing
for USAs you can use 2008 qualification for 2010 show so for some reason have 2 years

From bodybuildingweekly.com
http://www.bodybuildingweekly.com/ha...-for-2009.html
(4) Competitors will now need to qualify for national level shows more frequently. Instead of being qualified for two full years, qualifications will now be valid for one year. Because NQ status is based on a calendar year, you will be qualified for the rest of the year during which you qualify, plus one more full year. Qualification may still be two years for the USA Championships and Nationals, but further clarification is necessary.
If you qualified in 2007 you will be "grandfathered," meaning your qualification will be good until December 31, 2009.

The Nationals qualification for 5 years is also odd. Winning a Nationals class lets you apply for an IFBB pro card. I guess if you don't apply, you can still compete nationally for the next five years.
