Default 11 eggs per day, too much??

I'm using Dave's mass gaining diet. Always works well, but I wanted to see what everyone's opinion is about having 6 whole omega-3 eggs in the morning, and then 5 whole omega-3 eggs again at night: 11 whole omega-3 eggs per day!

Is this gonna send my cholesterol through the roof? Not to mention eating a red meat meal everyday!

    All opinions welcome, post away

If you're training hard enough it's not a problem. If you're young enough it's not a problem.

Plus... "high cholesterol" is non-informative measure. You want to look at the ratio of LDL (bad chol.) to HDL (good chol.).

To be safe, I suggest getting some blood work done and check it... you should do this regularly anyhow. It's just a safe/good habit to get in to

For a normal sedentary person yeah it wouldn't be so healthy, but for an active bodybuilder with a fairly decent bf % you have nothing to worry about. However even though I know some bodybuilders will disagree with me, you don't want to be doing this over the long run. When you're done competing or reach your bb goals I'd eat a healthy diet consisting of lots of fruits and veggies and only a moderate amount of meat and little dairy. This prevents cancer, helps people live long lives and makes old age a lot less medically complicated. Thats why the people in Okinawa live the longest out of anyone in the world, they eat mostly fruits and veggies and very little meat and no dairy.

Since when does food high in cholesterol raise our blood cholesterol? Lack of exercise and obesity raises our bad cholesterol.

I was more concerned with the Sat Fat in the eggs harming blood cholesterol.

    There's 1.5g saturated fat per Omega-3 egg *11 = 16.5 grams (that's a good amount of 'bad' fat)

Saturated fat is the main cause of high blood cholesterol levels. When you eat too much saturated fat, your body reacts by making more cholesterol than it needs, and the surplus ends up in your blood.

16.5g of sat fat is nothing really

I suspect that's not universally applicable. There are some people out there, a guess, who train hard and are young but still have less than desirable cholesterol.

And you really don't have to give a reason.

    Well, what causes obesity then?

You said "everything looked good," so enjoy your mass gaining! Where did you get his mass gaining diet from, the S.M.A.R.T. course or somewhere online? Wait, is it posted in his Q&A?

It's in his Q & A. I've used his precontest keto diet as well and loved it. My gains have been GREAT, no complaints there. Just thought I'd see what others had to say about the eggs

Apparently there is evidence that now suggests that egg yolks do not raise cholesterol.

Cholesterol is largely hereditary. If you don't have a hereditary problem, then I don't see why it would raise the cholesterol to a dangerous level. To my understanding, the body is like a factory. If you put in the cholesterol, then it doesn't make as much on its own...that's my understanding of it anyway. Saturated fat has more of an impact on cholesterol levels than cholesterol itself does.

    I'd agree with that 100%.

My uncle's cholesterol is just above 100. Mine is 140something that last I had it checked. And my grandmother (who lived to age 87 and passed of an ailment unrelated to heart disease) ate Pennsylvania Dutch cooking all her life, scrapple, eggs, etc. Her sisters both made it to 90 with the one reaching age 95.

Yes it is hereditary. I know of a person who ate a very healthy diet and exercised regularly and she still had high cholesterol. It runs in her family apparently and the doctor confirmed it is hereditary!
