For a while, yeah. But maybe not too long.
Rashad only has 2 fights between losing the belt and getting a chance to re-claim it (if he beats rampage). Thiago(he won), and Rampage in 2 weeks, then Rua.
If Rua and Lyoto meet again, my opinion is that both will be gunning for a title shot(very exciting fight), or Machida will again be defending it as Rua comes back up the ranks.
I don't see Rua holding the belt for 3 or 4 fights before Machida challenges the then champion again. Not because he's not good, but because there are quite a few legit challengers and he would be nothing short of amazing to defend that many times against that many good fighters. He could do it, but it would be very impressive.
If Rua performs the way he has against Machida, he may be there for a while, but if he has a performance like he did against Coleman or Griffin *acknowledges surgery recovery* he will get his ass beat again by whoever.
Who knows. Rampage or Rashad could both easily catch Rua with a big punch in an exchange and knock him out how he did to Lyoto.
The reason Lyoto has just only lost his first fight is because he avoids positioning that enables his opponent to land such a punch. Rua caught him just right and then immediately went for blood and finished dominantly. Had he stalled even a little, Lyoto would have defend properly. Props to Rua for bouncing right to the kill.
Machida gets in, goes for an attack and gets out. He doesn't chase down and stalk opponents, or stay in range very long. Unless his exchange puts them in a daze and he has opportunity to do more damage, he's not staying in range. Go count how man times he eats a quick jab. Almost never.

Anderson Slivia needs to stepup the entertainment factor in his fights, or nobody will want to see him fight anymore. That is one boring mother fucker in the octagon.

White has already said that A. Silva will face Vitor Belfort and Chael Sonnen before making him go to 205 where he will probably make a few fights before going after the belt. And if Machida is in the way, they will not fight eachother to defend/challenge the belt, or earn a shot at it.
Silva said he couldn't beat Machida, but I don't think that's true. He just didn't want to say anything against him. It would be a very fun fight to watch.
Silva made F. Griffin look like an amateur.
