John, Bravo! It is like wanting a car so bad and they offer you what seems like a sweetheart deal up front but in the long run it fucks you. Some people want the car so bad they just can't say no, no matter what they have to give up. These are the definition of predatory contracts. Unfortunately even with education many people will continue to get locked into these contracts beacuse of the empty promise of greatness that is too enticing for a up and coming athlete to turn down.

the amounts offered are well less than $500 for the weekend exclusivity.. when you take that and shun offers for comment/interviews it can potentially cut the bodybuilder off from serious offers later down the track.

The problem is that so many bodybuilders are broke as a joke...so they hear $500-$1000 ...and their willing to follow whatever blechman says...blechman knows this and takes advantage of them...I mean we all heard a top 202 guy saying.." oh thank god i won that $ 3000 bucks so i can pay my mortgage and be able to stay in my home another month"...that is a very sad commentary!!! Bodybuilders have to get their priorities straight before they dive head first into competing...if they have something to fall back on..they wont become slaves to the supplement companies, and the steve blechmans of the world!!

Really awesome article, hopefully up and coming bodybuilders take this to heart. Some of the officials in the IFBB need to start standing up for their athletes and banning these ridiculous "exclusive" contracts. Bodybuilders pictures should be everywhere, not just in one magazine or web site.

If a bodybuilder has any future or talent a one weekend contract isn't going to do them any damage and is money in pocket.

If a bodybuilder has no future or talent it's a quick buck and their only chance to pay for the cost of the show.
